Good shot? I would argue we are already the favorites to win it all!

Better chance than Kiffin being named the LSU HC.

Brother, as long as Jay Johnson is the head coach of LSU, the tigers will always have a good shot of winning it all. He’s that good. I just pray he never gets the MLB itch because I know the pros will be coming and calling at some point. I’m sure it’s already happened.

Pitching depth looks to be pretty insane. That alone will win a lot of games and keep it close against good teams.

Outfield is all proven starters. Lots of new faces in the infield but they are mostly highly rated transfers.

We have a good shot pretty much year in and year out. It’s a normality around here in baseball

Sure. Takes a bit of luck & fortune, just like the last two, though.

I was talking with my cousin about it yesterday. Its hard to really do more than pull a guess out your backside at this point but I'd be as confident in anyone coming into this season. In our last 3 years we've won it all twice. The in between season was effectively a down year. In that season where we lost a ton of talent from to the draft we started off the year super rough due to a combination of team rebuild and front loaded schedule. By the end of the season we were playing about as well as anyone and were a couple of outs away from winning the chapel hill regional and hosting a super. While I couldn't guarantee we make Omaha at that point, chances would have been high, and once you get to Omaha I wouldn't count jay out. And yeah thats a down season.

To answer your question, same as most years: book your rooms and plane tickets, take time off work, and order a set of torches and pitchforks to feint at running jay out of town if it doesn't work out that way.

a shot? absolutely!

it’s never easy to repeat in baseball, but we’ll have a good or better odds of winning as anyone else in the country.

There's a good chance UCLA will come out as the early season number one, but LSU will be right there with them.

Good point. I thought i had remembered UCLA was going to return basically everyone that went to the CWS. That should bode well for them this year. That being said they looked overmatched vs LSU and Arky in the CWS, so they'll need to improve for sure. Maybe having a home stadium to play in would be good for them too.

Right now UCLA would be the favorite.

i like this team.

reminds me more of last year than 2023

Should have hitting with some
pop up and down the lineup.

Hopefully Carraway turns the corner. he has insane upside.

We may not have clear Friday/Saturday starters, but overall pitching depth feels stronger. Casan Evans could be Friday night good. Schmidt may be ready to step up. Personally, I hope other guys step up and we are able to leave Cowen as the main reliever.

Entire starting outfield back, along with Milam at short

If York and a couple of other newcomers bring some pop, we could be better than last year.

You live this stuff year-round; what say you?
