George R R Martin is a spineless coward

It’s the only viable answer as to why another book has never been written. He was right to admit that he’s closer to Sam than Tyrion.

I don’t know if he’s a spineless coward. I just don’t think he knows how to finish it.

I think Decisions was saying he is afraid to upset book readers and folks on that ASOIF board with an ending as disappointing as the show. If that was the ending he outlined to the show runners, fine… finish it and fill in the blanks the show wouldn’t and couldn’t deliver.

Deflect deflect deflect. He'll say anything to make it seem like he's not just a lazy POS.
He's written five very good books, but he's rich now and cares more about shows and comic cons than he does the books.
I used to think that he'd at least finish WOW, but I'm to the point where he's not even going to finish it, much less ADOS. In all of his comments now he just seems bitter and that's not a very good sign for an old, fat, lazy writer that needs to write 2000 more pages in a series.
What I think he doesn't realize is that the majority of the fans wouldn't care if the ending was a disappointment. It certainly would be better than the show ending and as long as it's better than that, nobody would care. A mediocre ending to a overall great story is better than no ending at all. I've read plenty of good fantasy that had a relatively disppointing ending, but that is certainly better than no ending.
Sadly he's kind of ruined his legacy as one of the better fantasy writers of our time and made even worse by the fact that he is selfishly going to take his work with him to the grave and not let someone else finish it.

That’s what burns me.
He could easily get a ghost writer to complete his novels based on his outlines and notes. But he’s too damn proud and selfish to do so.

Oh I gotcha. Maybe the show adapted his ending and now he doesn’t have a Plan B. But I always assumed he never had the ending mapped out and doesn’t know where to go with it. And he’s too lazy and unmotivated to work it out. And too proud to let someone else do it. Wouldn’t it be neat if he got Abercrombie to finish it, the way Sanderson finished wheel of time?

Don't forget how far the show diverted from the books all the way back to the Red Wedding episode
Immediately Bran is not the rightful king because Rob's unborn is still alive in the books and whatshername is still alive held by the ugly midland people.
Forgive me, it's been a while since I finished the books and I forgot some names

frick those northern shits. I believe in Young Griff. Once he takes Storms End he's going to have a hell of a foothold to mount a campaign.

Almost 14 years for me

Practically speaking, this wouldn't matter to me. Wouldn't you want your ruler to be able to see into the past/future and have essentially "all" knowledge? That would be a good ruler...potentially.
Having said that, it just doesn't feel right for this story.
I believe he and Rothfuss both became victims of their success in the context of their stories. They are so popular that EVERY possible way to end the story has been thought out and theorized to death.
I think this has led these two arse hats to simply not be able to finish because they can't "surprise" the audience with a great ending because its all been thought out and could fall flat.
Coward is a good word for both of them is this is true.
