Hunting SxS that doesn’t feel like a golf cart

I want to move from Honda foreman to a SxS but so far all the ones I’ve hunted in feel like a golf cart in terms of acceleration and shifting. Are there any that include a manual transmission as added feature or don’t feel like a golf cart?

As someone who owns both golf carts and SxS's I have no idea what you're talking about.

Have you driven the Honda Pioneers? The 500 (or 520 now) is as close to a 4 wheeler as it gets, and is very different than a belt driven sxs.

Honda pioneer is what you looking for.

I would say this one is closest to a golf cart

Mine doesn’t have that jerky feeling when you drive coming from a complete stop. Thought that’s what op was referring to.

Cool. I was hoping Honda was a possibility given their reliability but haven’t ridden in one yet. Just rangers, trackers, mules, kubota, Deere.

That plus the feel that when you push the accelerator down it isn’t that responsive and you give up reaction for tourque. An ATV seems a lot more fun to ride and can also be a a good work machine. Yea I know I can buy an ATV but don’t know enough about SxS yet to do that.

I’ve got a 2015 Pioneer 500 with paddle shift. It’s a bit of a bridge between 4wheeler and SxS. The 2026 models are supposed to have improved performance. Mine is geared such that you only want to run around 20 mph or so.

The 2026 pioneer 520 isn’t as loud, supposably shift smoother and is faster.

I've got a Pioneer 1000.
Love it. doesn't have a golf cart feel at all.
And it's quiet enough that I can park under my stand in some settings and doesn't bother deer. (clearcut, pine field type deal... wouldn't drive through a bottom or anything) just depends on the setup. I have one setup where I've driven up and parked and climed up to see deer in my lane less than a hundred yards away.
Perfect work SxS for what I use it for.

I have a 2014 Yamaha Viking. It's the loudest mofo there is probably, metal bed over the motor and who knows what else. It does everything I want to do, just freaking loudly in the cab. That is definetely not like a golf cart.

So why is it now Pioneer 700 instead of 1000. And the 700 does have the paddle shift manual override to the transmission. And decent ground clearance.

Some 700's come with paddles, not all.
All 1000's do.
I've owned both and the machines are worlds apart. 700 has a 3 speed transmission and always seemed to be "hunting" for a gear. 1000 has a dual clutch 6 speed that is smooth and responsive.

I really want a new HD11 Crew but don’t want to spend the money. Wife gave me the green light gonna hold out to next year.

In my research it seems like there is no longer a Honda pioneer 1000. Only the 500 and 700. Am I missing something?

Nah. Things trash. Awful transmissions.

So what do you hunt on?
