Yes. That was bullshite. There was NEVER one dude to pay the entire buyout.

That bullshite was spread to make it look like the whole thing was planned in advance and there was no harm in firing Kelly. Specifically, the bullshite was spread to make it appear that there would be no lingering financial problems from firing Kelly immediately.

Now everyone knows that there was no planning. Now everyone knows that the LSU Athletic Department is going to have to make the contract payments or somehow fund the time value of a settlement. Those payments or that lumpsum reduce LSU's ability to find a replacement head coach and/or fund NIL.

From what I can tell LSU secured all of next seasons portion of the buyout and they had secured a donor willing to pay $30 over the course of two installments to get LSU out from the buyout but the entire buyout was not secured. But that they were going to ensure it was not paid by the taxpayers.

They were thinking the same as all of us. Kelly is not working and we need to make a change. Since they were there with their support when the contract was written, they were willing to foot the bill, as they promised they would. Every billionaire has made similar bad deals and know how to move on. Lick your wounds, pay the money, and learn for the next one. All of this was with SW at the helm. Now that Landry has entered, they are not likely to be so supportive. It's not that they thought SW was such a great AD, it is that he is part of their circle. You can call it "Baton Rouge Elite", or what ever you want. There was giant money connections and support for LSU. What's Landry got?

The donors are embarrassed now because woodford aka, "the connection" was fired in a rug pull move by the governor and now they are raking their money to college Station.
