"We've instructed our dispatchers to reject loads to any of the Five Burroughs," said Company Spokesman Joe Barron, "We don't see a way to continue doing business in the Big Apple.."
The news comes as Mamdani released his plan to increase revenue across the city by quadrupling the cost of tolls, licensing, permits, and inspections of all commercial vehicles.
"He's going to put a lot of the independent truckers out of business."

He’s taxing and putting a toll on anyone driving through, so theoretically they just pass the cost onto their deliveries but idk how their pricing works so maybe it’s not that easy.

Bad thing for him is he can't increase any of those things by himself, it has to be approved at the state level.

But that is just going to be passed along to the businesses who contract them to do the pickuip/drop off. The cost will go to the biz within the cities.
I mean, have no issue for the trucking company standing on principal and refusing to go, but they wouldn't necessarily be financially impacted.
The people of NYC are going to regret this.

As a business owner, this is not how it works 99.9% of the time. You don’t end up net 0 impact, you either pass on the costs with a premium or you eat it to some degree. Generally you pass it on with a premium and end up making slightly more, if business affords it.
But, at the end increasing domestic taxes is just going to directly increase the cost to those users as the cost of the goods is increased. So I don’t see how the citizens would end up better here.
