there is a running back in Indiana that is about 1000 yards away from Henry's high school record with 4 games to go. could probably cut it close.

But yeah, 12k yards in high school is frickin insane

ETA to add link to kid with over 11k yards

Is it possible Henry has taken more hits as a RB from age 14 to age 30 of anyone in history?

I think someone should interview him when he’s 50 and ask him if he has any physical problems. His odometer has to have broke and he’s still running at a good level. Insane.

Henry played against pee wee players in high school. He played for the lowest classification in a part of Florida that has no talent, so he didn't get hit often, hence the absurd rushing total. He also was a rotation back for two years at Bama and two years with the Titans, so his mileage isn't bad. That stiff arm has probably saved him some wear and tear too.

But look at Emmit Smith. He had the original national high school rushing record before others, including Henry broke it. And he played in Pensacola against good teams. He was also a beast in High School, and was toting the rock as the primary back at Florida from Day 1.

Emmit had over 5,800 touches in college and NFL (easily #1)

Henry has 3,250 touches in college and NFL which is 30-something on the list.

He played in Florida's 4A classification, which is not the lowest classification in the state but mid-tier. He also played high school ball in Yulee, which is a suburb of Jacksonville - the largest city in the South.

All of this is wrong. Smith never came close to breaking the national high school rushing record. It had been set by Ken Hall of Sugar Land, TX back during the 1950s and stood for all those years until Henry broke it. Escambia High School was also a 3A/4A school when Emmitt Smith played there.

All one has to do is take a look at Earl Campbell's life now that he's out of football. His list of ailments and limitations is huge and a lot of it is due to his running style of simply bowling people over who tried to tackle him.

Dude takes extremely good care of his body. Seems like he is very conscientious of the toll that his body takes and tries hard to mitigate it.
