BREAKING: Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been indicted by prosecutors in Brooklyn on a host of charges related to a scheme to rig bets on pitches thrown in MLB games. Ortiz was arrested in Boston earlier today. Clase is not currently in custody.

The 23-page indictment against Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz lays out the alleged scheme for the pitchers to intentionally throw balls so bettors could wager on pitches to be balls or strikes. It started, prosecutors say, as early as May 2023 with Clase and later included Ortiz.

Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz face up to 65 years in prison if convicted on all charges, according to the Eastern District of New York, which outlined the case against Clase and Ortiz after indicting them on fraud, conspiracy and bribery charges.

Legalized gambling is morally wrong and it corrodes the fabric of society.

Legalized gambling is allowing oversight of the totality of data and finding the irregularities to prosecute offenders, finally.

Hopefully they continue to investigate this. Lots of head scratching moments in sports over the years make you wonder

No, most of this stuff is over silly individual player props that were largely irrelevant to the game and only caught because of the wagers that were placed, not because of what transpired on the field.

How dumb is Clase?
He had a $20 million contract and threw it away to rig a prop bet.

i think it's funny, that ESPN/Mouse is pushing all in on gambling
I mean ESPN hasn't had credibility in decades, but now, with all of players gambling, caught in gambling rings, and to go all in on it, after all of the recent shite came out. lol
I still haven't figured out, why the stock holders haven't sued Disney/iger/board, they completely shite on the stock. was at $220ish, now lingering at $110.00 What a huge loss of value. So much stupidity in the losses.

It's the content people want.
Funny enough BetESPN died this week. Penn has really fricked things up. Having a partnership with Barstool fail only to have the successive one with ESPN fail is quite a feat
