when LSU hires their next HC based on budget restrictions?
I truly don't believe that LSU will hire a D1 coach and they won't hire anyone from the NFL.
Expect the worst and hope for the best.

I doubt someone was willing to pay $50mil to buyout Kelly and then close up his wallet for the new hire.

Why would we fire Kelly to hire some nobody on a budget constraint? That doesn't even make sense. Fire Kelly for sucking just to hire someone that sucks because you don't have money? That doesn't even make sense man. They'd just keep Kelly if that were the case.

I think this is the first coaching hire I’m genuinely excited for.
2004 I was pissed Saban left
2016 was worse than this because of Joe Alleva
2021 was Woodward big game hunting and I thought having a proven coach would be auto-success
2025 is different though. I look at the LSU job differently. Les and O were idiots but the players loved them and came to play. I want a coach who is an expert on one side of ball and who is hungry enough to realize the importance of this job. Whether it be Lane or some asst I never hear of. I’m genuinely excited to hopefully have a coach with fire

Exactly!
I keep having to remind myself that it doesn't really matter if the new coach is a big name and in fact, part of me hopes it's not. Other than Nick Saban, it did not get bigger than Brian Kelly in 2021 when he was hired and we see how that turned out. We simply need someone who's hungry and works his arse off for LSU.

LSU isn't hiring a budget coach. The governor can say whatever he wants. At the end of the day, LSU will hire a good coach that they feel can get them in the playoffs consistently and potentially win a natty.
They aren't going bargain hunting in the coaching pool. The people that wanted and made the moves to remove Kelly are not paying all that money to go get some scrublet at a basement price.

There is not much out there to choose from. It is going to suck anyway around it. Pay-offs, buy-outs, NIL, Opt-outs, Transfers. LSU is in a world of hurt right now and better move fast, at least by mid-December.
