Alabama had won 11 straight against LSU going back to 1970. They were ranked #8 and favored to win this one. LSU's defense smothered Alabama's wishbone like no other as Alabama had zero first downs at half time and only 119 yards for the whole game. The LSU front 7 was named "National Lineman of the Week." Incredible game as LSU had wallowed in mediocrity for about 10 years..Bear Bryant said it was the Tide's "worst whipping since the 60's"

Now, as time has gone on LSU has won several SEC titles and three National Titles. But at the time this was a monumental win........ November 6, 1982: LSU 20, Alabama 10

I just want to be alive to witness us beat Alabama like 45-10 one time. Just once is all I ask. Even in the games where we have completely kicked their arse like 1982 and 2001 the scores were somewhat close on paper.

The final score doesn't indicate how much we dominated that game defensively.

that was put in after Tennessee's Willie Gault's kick return a few weeks earlier. It worked to perfection that day ,at least before halftime.

Beat them at TS in 2000 (the game where Saban got the officials to overturn arguably the single worst call of all time).

2001, in the rain, Bama won like 26-0 or something. Miserable.

Bear Bryant retired after that season and died soon afterward. Which gave us the joke:

How did Bear Bryant die of a heart attack?

He asked his wife what time it was and she answered 20 to 10.

We beat them in TS in 2000 and then Rohan threw for like 500 yards against them in Bryant Denny in 01. They shut us out on 02.

I was at that game in Legion Field and it was glorious. As you said, LSU hadn't beaten them since 1970 which fueled my dislike for them even more. I was stationed at Maxwell AFB, drove from Montgomery to Bham and am glad I did! A memory I'll always have!

And that's the last time Bear played LSU.

Well, they beat us in Baton Rouge in 1996, 26-0. The following year in Tuscaloosa LSU won, 27-0 with on and off rain.

For those coming up it is supposed to be really nice Saturday night.

That's right. 2001 was 35-21, LSU. My bad.

I was there. It was colder than a well digger’s @$$. Sitting behind TGBFTL and after the game they turned around to the LSU crowd and played ‘Hold That Tiger’.

Such a high.

Then sh*t the bed the next week against Moo State.

I think John Bond just scored again.
