The ole bait and switch. I tried its the meanies in Albany and DC who stopped me......now where is my wallet with those kickbacks?

Not only does he have to fight state but also the boroughs and the unions. He aint gonna get much done in NYC other than increase crime.

I can't recall where I saw it, but 90% of what Mamdani wants to implement, he lacks the authority or the tax revenue to carry out.

Basically, all he can do is turn the city into a crime-ridden hellhole and open city owned grocery stores.

he will dismantle any and all NYPD terrorism special units, RapidResponse. essentially allow terrorists in willy nilly. the finest LEA known- the NYPD, will be reduced to guys kneeling for Mamdani.

CK's assassin is so familiar to me. Like I have seen this before. Mamdani is an antichrist if not thee AC.

That's what I never understood about the speculative attacks on Mamdani, rather than nuts and bolts...he can't even enact the horrible policies he's proposing...especially tax issues.

It’s going to be hilarious if he begins attacking the governor for not eliminating the fees when she enthusiastically endorsed him.

anybody remember Maitreyla or Maitreya? He was on a U.N. web page claiming he was the second coming. This Mamdani had an old picture where he wasn't as groomed that looks just like him.

in 1988 he appeared in a desert, and the evil UN- share international SAID HE WOULD MAKE HIMSELF KNOWN ONE DAY.

maitreya

at the very least the UN needs abolished. freaking weirdos...

I'm not sure why so many people thought a mayor would have so much power to begin with. Things like taxes, healthcare and immigration are handled at the state/federal level.

Hochul has already said she will not raise any of the taxes he's promised. Just sit back and enjoy this train wreck

I would rather be a little more concise and compare Florida as a whole to NYC. There's an argument that what happens in NYC impacts the Upstate area, but it also impacts Penn, Jersey, etc. The strongest impact is going to be in NYC itself though, so I'm going to stick with that.

Going off 2023 stats, Florida has a population of ~22.6M while NYC has population of 8.2M. These numbers represent a growth (from 2022) in Florida's population of 1~.5% and a decline in NYC's by ~1%.

Florida's per capita GDP is ~$70k while NYC's is ~$155k. This is impacted by Florida being a large retirement destination and NYC's economy heavily financed by service-driven jobs. From 2023 to 2024, both areas had GDP growth rates of 3.6%

Median age in Florida is 42 while NYC's is 38.

Violent crime rate per capita (per 100k residents) for Florida is 292 while NYC's is 636.

Per capita income for Florida is ~$67k while NYC's is ~$50k.

Per capita social services spending for Florida is $1,792 while NYC's is ~$4,249.

Conclusion:

Florida's per capita GDP isn't quite half of NYC's but that's largely due to Florida's far larger retirement community. Along with that, Florida is growing while NYC is shedding residents as Florida has a far lower cost of living and lower violent crime rate than NYC. We'll see what that looks like in 2-4 years, but it's extremely likely that we'll see Florida continue to gaining ground against NYC (depending on how successful Mandani is in implementing his desired policies).

The state has a say in most of what he campaigned on and Hochul's not doing shite right now because she's up for reelection next year. If/when she is reelected, he may get some leeway.

It is right out of the communists' playbook. Ask for power; when things don't work out, you can blame it on not being given enough power.

Yea, in an interview where it was pointed out that he didn't have the authority to impose those taxes, or change any fee structure with the buses or subways, he said "Well, Governor Hochul endorsed me"

As if an endorsement for election is a seal to agree with everything you want to do in the future.

The mainstream democrats, if there is such a thing, are scared of the Mamdani people, and they will likely pressure Hochul to shut the door on all his policies that require state approval.

I wonder if the NYC Transit system actually makes a profit or breaks even with all the heavily subsidized public works projects for new tunnels in addition to fares it tries to collect.

The board that runs the MTA has said that it would take "several yrs" to implement any change that the Socialist promised. As is typical with any governmental agency, committees have to form to analyze any & all possible impacts on this or that, one significant issue being how to secure the many types of financing needed. Tax revenues would not magically appear any time soon.

Pretty much the Socialist/Democrat campaigning playbook, promise free shite that doesn't have a chance of seeing realization, blame others, repeat. The Left is too ignorant and uneducated to know they are being duped.
