Really disappointed in New Jersey

Virginia is gone for the GOP for the foreseeable future, but I had high hopes that NJ was turning. The results last night show otherwise.
I think the GOP needs to refocus on affordability for the middle class. They appear to be losing the battle for the independent suburbanites who are deciding these elections.

The big lesson is candidates and campaigns matter.

Bro it’s fricking NJ. Who gives a shite?

Most of their Republican voters moved away from 2021 to 2025. It's like the fourth largest "migrated away" state.

I do. They have 14 electoral votes, and in case you haven't noticed, the GOP is losing Georgia. Trump lost by only 5 there - was hoping we are seeing a shift.

We can try and flip it all we want but it's so tied in with NYC it will never happen.

There will be no long term shift. The USA will continue to arc further to the Left as the decades move on IMHO.

I really thought NJ was close to flipping red - This was the only election that I thought a Republican had a chance last night
HOWEVER
7 Bomb Threats
Multiple Voting locations were shut down (due to running out of Ballots)
Power Outages
Bla Bla Bla
There was a LOT of frickery going on yesterday in New Jersey so I think it was a lot closer than the numbers look - Thank God for Alina Hobba to look into it because she has said that she will be going over the election results with a fine tooth comb

I just always assume NYC and NJ are in lock step with each other. I'm not surprised.

Your mistake was thinking that New Jersey was going to elect a Republican governor. It wasn't.

Bigger lesson: Don't bring up a two time loser for a third try like was done in NJ

Virginia has been blue for a decade, with Northern Virginia dominating the polling stations. The outlier was Governor Youngkin’s win, which was influenced by scandals in Northern Virginia involving a young man claiming to be a woman and abusing young women in school bathrooms, combined with some serious missteps by the Democratic candidate.
Before the election, Virginia had been seen as a deeply blue state. It is just returning to the status quo.

I guess the good news is that his political career is over. Fox News pushed him hard and they look like total idiots now.

The problem is people have really short memories and don’t continue to vote.
They forget about the Dems lying about Biden and hiding Kamala.
They forget about intentionally opening borders and lying about it.
They forget about all of the funding for illigals while citizens suffer.
They forget about all of the high crime.
They forget about the inflation Dems caused that made everything unaffordable.
They forget about appeasing Iran and Russia and what that caused.
They forget about boys playing girls sports and children getting transitioned.
They forget about the weaponization of the DOJ and IRS.
They forget about DEI and discrimination it’s caused.
I could go on…..
But that’s what NY, VA, and NJ voted for more of.
Voters are dumb.

You’re looking at the results but ignoring the numbers. Virginia is a purple state that has been completely abandoned by the Republican Party. We got NO help here whatsoever from republicans in a national/federal level. We couldn’t even get an endorsement by Trump. Meanwhile, Obama came out of retirement and had multiple stops around the state campaigning for democrats. This is the second non-presidential election in a row that democrats went in hard here and us republicans were left to fend for ourselves.
Democrats understand how important Virginia is for DC politics but for some reason republicans still don’t get it. VA dems are about to become a major thorn in Trumps arse.

They will probably have less after the 2030 census.
