Anyone else think we destroyed Seattle in the Shaheed trade

Getting a 4th and 5th rounder for a small gadget WR with an expiring contract was a steal.
Best trade Mickey has made since the Jimmy Graham trade to Seattle for Unger and multiple picks

would you trade Shaheed for Vele and 5th rounder?

Honestly, yes. But you can’t look at it like that at this point. Easy to say that after the fact.
Shaheed is a WR3 or 4 on a good team. He can’t catch the ball over the middle and when he actually does he fumbles.

I think the only way Seattle wins this trade is if they win a Superbowl with him. They got him for 8 games then they have to pay him 20 mil a year if they want to keep him.

I think we destroyed the Chargers in the Penning trade.

OP is nothing but ridiculous hyperbole. Settle down, chief. You look silly right now. This was a simple, fair trade. That's it.

Yeah. Its not a cheap cost for seattle to give up 2 mid round picks, they probably have a clue that they have a good chance to re-sign him and know his wants for a new contract.
For Saints, losing shaheed knowing he's not going to be affordable with our cap situation, keeping olave, and having vele replacement on deck. Getting those picks is a necessary task to come out with some change in our pocket.

Seattle is a better run Organization than the Saints.
I imagine they have a need/role for him.

No I think it was pretty fair for both teams.
I’ve heard shaheed referred on here from the next tyreke hill and a “star” to a 3rd or 4th wr/small gadget player.
Honestly I think he fits perfect in seattles offense and Darnold’s big arm allowing JSN to work underneath.
Shaheed is in his late 20s and seems to be more of a win now type player.
We are going to need multiple explosive type players in the next draft though. We’re slow as shite as a team at this point.

I don’t think some of you understand the value of draft picks. If Mickey can hit on these next year, we will get 2 contributors for cheap the next 4-5 years. And we only have up a glorified punt returner that will probably play 9 or so games in Seattle.

I think both teams are happy with the trade.
Shaheed will probably do really well in Seattle and we need all the picks we can get.

“Some of us” have been advocating for this for years. It doesn’t mean the trade isn’t mutually beneficial.
The Seahawks have one of the better rosters in the league. They need a burner deep threat more than mid-late round picks who likely won’t even crack their current roster.

Destroyed? No, you are probably the only one thinking that.
Did the team win the trade? That could be a decent debate, but IMO it is a push. Seattle has a piece they need now for a legitimate playoff push. The Saints received mid-round picks that could provide cheap labor during the rebuild. Due to the timing of Shaheed hitting FA, he was most likely walking after this season; so, the Saints got something in return. If Seattle is able to develop a role for him and he likes the offense he is in, Seattle has the first crack at resigning/extended him

George Pickens yielded a 3rd and 5th for 17 games for Dallas
Shaheed yields a 4th and 5th for 9 games with Seattle
An overpay by Seattle based on some past deals but I would bet that there were other teams in on Shaheed, which drove up the cost slightly

No I don’t. Sheed should have stayed to be a part of the rebuild. His contract next year wouldn’t have been outrageous.
He has the ability to change games like Tyreek Hill if we build the offense around his speed.
BUT we did get a great return on investment since Sheed was an UDFA

Are we really comparing Shaheed to Tyreek Hill right now

He’s the closest thing we got/had to Hill.
Sheed has never played with a Mahomes or Tua. And we all saw glimpses of he and Carr before they both got hurt.
If Drew were still here. Yeah. There is a staunch comparison. Sheed is actually better at short routes than Hill. Don’t be that guy. See the Forrest through the trees.

Draft two serviceable guards. I’d be happy.

I don't know how you judge these things, but Shaheed is 27 years old and will be dure a big ish contract in 2026.
I know a few years ago Loomis would have extended him for 5 years / 70Mil but this year he flipped him for 2 mid round draft picks.
There's a spark of hope.
Shaheed is a vertical threat WR that is declining. I'm sure he'll have some nice games in Seattle but at the end of the day there's a good chance he's a FA this off season anyway. 27/28 year old WR that's' not a #1 or #2 may just turn into a rent a player for this season.
