Wow! Really awesome to see him rewarded for taking less “prove it” pay. And having to be journeyman for a few years.

Good for him, but this feels like it will make things difficult for the Bucs to commit that much money to one player.

That seems crazy I don’t picture him as the best player in the nfl. I don’t even know that he is a top 5 qb to be honest.

No doubt. But maybe the cap goes up enough over 4 years to help offset. They really like him in Tampa (team and fans) and this is 100% opposite what Browns did so in a karma good way it worked out for him.

He can also restructure in the later years to help get players if wants to.

And its not final yet my guess is he takes less to help team once its finalized. Probably 50-55 range per year?

Not sure they need to. The 4 years is actually very smart. A lot of their better players are young and a lot of vets are about to roll off the payroll.

PROJECTION

Baker is definitely getting another contract, but this tweet is just a projection. I'd honestly doubt that he gets $70M per year when the largest QB contract on a per-year basis is only $60M right now. He might reset the QB market, but his new deal won't go $10M over the current top of market deal

And the post you cited says it’s a projection; as in, it probably isn’t even an offer on the table.

It should also be noted that Mayfield is under contract next year and is expected to cash in over $40M between salary & bonuses. Why would they extend him now?

Love Baker but that’s at least 10-15 million per year too much.

Jason Licht tends to be one of the best at getting team friendly deals this would be shocking if true.

It's about the years (only 4) and the guaranteed.

OP wrote a misleading thread title referencing a tweet from a known shitty NFL Twitter account about a projection of the contract Baker MIGHT sign next year and told someone else to "learn to read"

100% he'll flop next year! 100%

No human is worth that. Tom Brady was there and they didn't see that value in him. Now this assclown is gonna be paid that? LOL, please see Dak for an example

The list goes on and on. Tampa dumpster fire in 1 yr
