He has already said he intends on seizing private property. Over a million New Yorkers have announced they will be leaving. Housing prices will plummet overnight.

Mamdani has said he will excessively tax not only businesses in NYC but any company engaging in business in NYC. So I expect a mass exodus of businesses and cutting ties from any company engaged in business with New York. For example, If I were someone like Delta Air Lines I'd be pulling out of the hubs at LGA and JFK. Mamdani could start seizing their aircraft if they don't pay his new taxes.

It will be satisfying seeing New York suffer like they've never suffered before. Trump always said it best with his famous snake poem. All Muslims are snakes and they will all be bitten.

We never would have said this 24 years ago. The whole nation stood behind NYC after 9/11.

So much has changed.

This would have been a perfect time for NJ to elect a Republican governor. They could have seen a boom of small business owners moving in from NYC. Maybe they'll just move to Long Island now.

One thing some analysts are bringing up is that he won't actually have the power to do many of the things he's promising. For example, free bus rides for anyone. That's not up to the mayor or city council. That's actually run at the state level with the governor being the deciding factor. The past couple of months, he's looked very two-faced on many issues, so it could well be that he knows he's full of shite on many of his promises and can't fulfill them, and he's counting on that when he explains to his supporters when he can't deliver on his more outlandish promises. "Sorry, I tried, but my hand is tied by the governor on this".

True, but I have this funny feeling it's the stuff that he didn't campaign on that New Yorkers are going to learn the hard way.

Do you mind sharing where that information comes from? It seems like an enormous amount of data to compile, verify and parse in such a short time span.

All the most extreme stuff he wants to do will be tied up in courts I'm sure. Communist or not, he can't single handily just violate the constitution without at least some judges somewhere having a say.

If there’s a real source behind the “million leaving” claim, I’d actually like to see it. Do you have one?

It’s a poll for the Daily Mail, I’m sure you can derive how reliable it is from that.

If you would search using the text he supplied you would find more than a handful of links.

Exactly what you see from the islamists in Europe, no prosecutions for Muslims, but prosecute citizens for defending themselves.

No doubt. I'm interested in credible links. Not links making the same unsubstantiated claim.

Google couldn't do it.

Grok says--------- this :
quote:

The claim in the provided X post—that "over a million New Yorkers have announced they will be leaving" New York City, in the context of Zohran Mamdani's policies or election—appears to be a significant exaggeration or misrepresentation of available data. No credible reports indicate that a million or more individuals have made formal announcements of their intent to leave NYC as of November 2025. Instead, this figure stems from pre-election polls gauging hypothetical intentions, not actual declarations or actions.

while polls suggest widespread unease among some NYC residents about Mamdani's win, the claim of "over a million" having "announced" their departure is unsubstantiated and likely inflated for rhetorical effect. Actual migrations would take months or years to materialize and measure, but current trends show population stability rather than collapse.

chatgpt says:

? What is true

A recent poll by J.L. Partners for the Daily Mail found that about 9% of residents of New York City said they would “definitely” leave the city if Zohran Mamdani (Democratic-Socialist candidate) wins the mayoralty. That equates to roughly 765,000 people (given NYC’s population ~8.4 million).

The same poll indicated another ~25% (about 2.1 million people) said they were “considering” leaving under the same hypothetical scenario.

? What isn’t true / What’s misleading

There is no evidence that one million* or more residents have already announced they will be leaving the city, as the original claim states. The data refers to intentions in a poll, conditional on a particular election outcome—not actual departures.

The claim “Over a million New Yorkers have announced they will be leaving” treats a poll asking “Would you leave if X happens?” as equivalent to people physically resigning residency. That conflates stated intention with confirmed action.

Polls like this capture what people say they might do, often in a highly charged political context. They are not forecasts of actual migration with certainty.

Even if 765,000 people did leave, that would be significant, but it’s still short of the more than one million figure claimed, and again, the 765k is conditional—not already done.

?? Verdict

The claim is mostly false. It builds on a self-reported poll projection, inflates the number, the certainty, and the timing (“have announced they will be leaving”), and presents it as a done or inevitable exodus. The data so far shows “would consider leaving if A happens,” not “have left.”

If you like, I can check migration data (e.g., USPS change-of-address, tax records) to se.

I feel like I gave it a pretty good effort.
