I don’t know how they’re around still. Every time I go, the food is either mediocre or bad. The employees also look dirty and greasy.

They’ve been around forever in my hometown. It’s been decades. I don’t understand how. There must be certain demographics that continue to go there no matter what.

Assuming you mean Applebee's and Appleby's is not some Temu knockoff they (and a lot of the fast casual) places have seen a big comeback post-COVID.

That being said I haven't been in one in probably 20 years despite one being 5 minutes from my house.

They were never known for great food. They're essentially a chain of pub/grills, a place to meet for a drink and casual food

Disagree.

For being on the Mount Rushmore of chains, their steaks are pretty damn good.

You are the demographic that keeps going there.

I think the 25 dollar deal they are running now (get an app to share and two entrees) is a pretty good deal. I don't drink much and their non-alcoholic cocktails are well made in my opinion So i go and have no complaints. I am not expecting a Michelin dining experience!

It’s where you go when you’re not dressed up enough to go to Chili’s

The only chain restaurant that we have to drive more than 15 minutes for from our house, we tend to stay away from using I-45 when going out to eat so we've never been to the one closest to us but we visit the hell out of Chillis.

I was on a business trip with out a car and there was one next to the hotel. It was awful. I feel like they only still exist because chilis isn’t bad so people probably think “how bad can Applebees be?”

Only appleby's I've been to was on the first floor of the Adam's mark hotel in Charlotte. That hotel closed down years ago, is now a le meridien... without an appleby's.
