He has a point.
If the executive can’t use the power of the economy as diplomatic leverage, then he has no leverage.
Other governments will see this weakness and take full advantage to weaken our economy and thus our country.
It can be a national security issue.

The President only has the power Congress gives him.
If you think he needs this, you need Congress to pass legislation granting him this specific tariff power

What is the worse possible outcome if the court favors Trump? DEMs acting like nut jobs?

I was just giving a civics lesson for 5 year olds

Oh wow! I was always taught we had 3 “co-equal” branches of government.
Flipping through the Constitution now to see where it says Presidential Power is granted by Congress.

I posted without comment.
I am generally agnostic on tariff issues, though I think the policy seems incoherent. I have no opinion on the legal issues in play here, I defer to others.

How about follow the process and do it policy wise?

God, hope John Roberts doesn't see that tweet.

Holy shite you're retarded
That was a civics lesson for a 5 year old and you failed the test .
You need to read the Constitution my bro

What process, exactly, are you referring to? I’m not saying out of hand here that you don’t know what you’re talking about, but I’d expect that you’re able to cite the specifics of what you’re suggesting if you’re suggesting it in the first place.

The guy who pretends to be a lawyer on a message board while also holding the record for most posts in 24hrs is only giving lessons on being an embarrassment. Not civics.

Maybe the courts can save Trump from himself this time.

Ha!
By stating, “The President only has the power Congress gives him” suggests Congress is the more powerful branch.
If my boss grants me the authority to fire someone, my boss ultimately has more authority.
Your comment is moronic but you are too simple minded to understand.

What time will the announcement be?

Not really, considering the President can veto the legislation

Tell Trumps lawyers and Scott Bessent

quote:
A ruling striking down Trump's use of the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act, or IEEPA, to quickly impose broad global tariffs also would eliminate a favorite cudgel to punish countries that draw his ire on non-trade political matters.
quote:
Bessent told Reuters that he expects the Supreme Court to uphold the IEEPA-based tariffs. But if it strikes down the tariffs, Bessent said in an interview, the administration will simply switch to other tariff authorities, including Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which allows broad 15% tariffs for 150 days to calm trade imbalances.
Bessent said Trump also can invoke Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, a statute that allows tariffs up to 50% on countries that discriminate against U.S. commerce.
