and they couldn’t agree on NIL involvement

The big takeaway here is Urban is interested in coaching and it did an interview

Why wouldn’t you make the call if Saban says no?

If Urban wasn't good enough for NIL at Penn State, what makes you think he'd be good enough for NIL at LSU?

It doesnt say what exactly the disconnect was.

Honestly, and I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion here, I would take Urban over Saban (neither is going to happen). Urban is 10+ years younger and would probably be hungry to do something that nobody has accomplished, win a title at 3 different schools.

Penn State is retarded if he was actually interested and NIL is what got in the way. Urban is one of those candidates you just say “yes. How much and what do want?”

because of Urban's answers on navigating the NIL world.

It sounds like he’s an old school guy & doesn’t know how to handle NIL.

I’d bet CUM is not coaching in CFB next year

only football ignorant morons like u. speak for yourself punk.

second best behind saban. had he stayed at OSU he woulda had days natty last year played for another in 2020 and prolly woulda beaten UGA in 2022 semis where day fell 1 point short with CJ stroud.

Yeah, something about "navigating the NIL world"...

Urban could be talking like Dabo- we're going to develop from within. Or he could have said he'd go full mercenary/free agent mode, which might shock the PSU admin. They really haven't been big players in that to this point.

I kinda think it's the latter. Urban has done the NFL and knows what it means to go bring in experienced guys.

I think Urban would be much more likely to come back to coaching for Penn State than for any SEC job. There is less parity in the Big Ten and a much easier path to the playoff.

I'm not saying he was great with that, I'm saying he's done it

Penn State, even after joining the Big 10, has always been on it's own island, "the Beast of the East". They haven't been big into the NIL deal, and they don't really seem to want to recruit nationally that much. I remember prominent Louisiana guys going to Nebraska, Fla State, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Colorado (when they won their title) etc. I can't recall anyone going to Penn State, despite the fact they were always good. It's not that they can't, it's that they want to stay mostly in their core.

Urban may well have said he's going to open it up and get guys from all over, and aggressively hit the NIL market each year rather than focus on getting guys and trying to grow them internally.

No way Urban signs a contract with a morals clause.

Maybe controversial but who from the 2010s that was a great head coach is still great? The last 4 years of CFB has churned up and spit out the older coaches
