I think decades of prosperity and the shift from a production economy to a consumer economy has completely divorced many Americans views of politics from the realities of modern life

The truth is that when faced with real existential realities people act more in a practical manner and so does their government. Its very easy to sacrifice practical common sense for idealism when you dont personally have to deal with the consequences. This idea really came to my mind when the subject of destroying drug boats came up. These boats are bringing dangerous drugs, weapons and murderers into our country. When faced with the practical question of "are we better off with these things in our country" the answer is easily NO.

Why then does the practical step of destroying the boats with our military cause some people to have a fit? The only answer is impractical idealism. There is that incredibly small possibility that these people could be "innocent fishermen or joyriders on speed boats in the middle of the Gulf at night." And in America everyone gets a "fair trial" right? Only the people who dont see the direct effects and experience the direct consequences of these drug boats getting here are concerned about these things.

My point? Im sicked and tired of always sacrificing the practical thing to do at the alter of idealism. Weve been doing this for 50+ years now and its now created these knots of problems that cant be solved.

On the left, we have the ideas that everyone is entitled to healthcare, food, shelter. Everyone is entitled to come to our country, and can face NO SHAME for any personal decisions.

One the right, its almost more infuriating because we hamstring ourselves from fixing any problems caused by the left through strict legalism and this idea that rocking the boat will give the left the right to do so once they get power back(ignoring the fact that they will do so regardless). All conservatism is now is CONSERVING VICTORIES FROM A DECADE AGO BY THE LEFT. No offense is every allowed because then some judge may say overrule it, it may offend some minority group that we got a recent 5% voter bump from, or some "principled" conservative will by the most pretzel of pretzel logic think that it will violate the Constitution.

I know this is a long post, it kinda ties into other posts on the board already. Boomers and Xers, I know yall are gonna detest this post, youre gonna call me all the usual names. I dont care. The youngest generations are facing the existential problems, yall arent. They are facing the job market collapse, they are facing the low birth rate, they are facing the demographic time bomb, they are facing the destruction of the currency, they are facing the brainwashing of most of the female population. Dont be surprised when these men, when they finally get power, take drastic practical steps to clean up the mess yall have made

This is the basis reason why the Fed & Trump are working together to return us to a world of sound money.

After our industrial base comes home, Because Tariffs, we will start the process of ending Fiat money and the Fed's central planning.

I don't believe in entitlements, but is hard to trust politicians who tell you we have no money for healthcare, SNAP, social security, etc. when at the same time we always have plenty of money to send to Ukraine or foreign countries or money to spend on more bombs to blow up the middle east.

Imagine if we invested the trillions we have spent in pointless foreign entanglements on America.

Good point

This is where ive been at. Im ok with 2 paths for government:

1) Completely free market with low regulations, no income tax, no red tape, no entitlements, no subsidies. Just a bare bones government spending only for infrastructure and defense

or if we absolutely must have an involved government

2) Government providing regulation that protects industry and competition, prevents foreign entities from destroying our industry, promotes business, uses excess money not on foreign wars but to increase lending to those who start businesses and create jobs.

What we have now is the worst of both. The people that want the "free market" with completely free trade to antagonistic countries while allowing the mountains of red tape and taxes to that make domestic competition impossible and bury everyone but the mega-corporations who buy support in DC to stifle domestic competition.
