Winning ain't it, neither is tanking. I would hope roster cleanup, remove dead cap and get better front office.

But all this sounds too logical, so most likely nothing is gonna happen.

Develop Shough. If he ain't it, you are picking top 3 and you take a QB.

Literally nothing else matters, which is why the Rattler farce was complete insanity.

TBH Shough probably needed the time on the sideline. Preseason and Camp was too fast for him. At least now he knows what game prep looks like. Trial and error with his first game and then a bye coming up to unpack his training wheels experience.

Hope we have something. If not its back to square one next year.

CKM deciding what players to boot and which to keep. Identifying holes. And which coaches are performing or not.
Oh and how to pay Vele even more money to piss off ST posters.

Figure out if either of these qbs are worth building around and getting good draft position, while hopefully having a young guy pop which requires snaps. Vets are basically screwed.

That'd be my goal, not necessarily whatever they are thinking.

Regardless of the outcome, we need to know. I am hoping Shough has somewhat of a Drake Maye arch by the end of the year. Maye didn't start for the first 5 games, so he is pretty close to where Shough is. He went 3-10, with 5 of his games being blowout losses (more than 10 points). He had 3 losses that were within a score and two of his 3 wins were within a score.

Now, I know Shough is not a top 3 guy like Maye, but Maye was on a pretty bad team that was rebuilding and definitely did not look like Maye this year. He spent those games getting comfortable and building on what he did well. The absolute best case for the Saints is that Shough has a similar season where we still get a top pick (Pats got 4th pick) and he has displayed obvious traits that he is the guy we should be building around. History tells us he won't, but it really the only thing I care about when watching this god awful team.

Cap and culture clean up.

Talent evaluation and roster building/rebuilding.

The 2025 draft class is looking better than most from the Saints previous staff. That's promising. It's going to take time. You always want to win and try to win but it was never going to this season. Next season may see up picking in the early to mid teens but should be and improvement.

This!

That’s why I kept saying it didn’t make any fricking sense to EVER start Rattler (knowing that they didn’t see him as the future - hence drafting Shough).

Now you have waited until the season is over to start the guy you drafted, and it appears that guys are sleep walking through it (although Olave looked pretty good yesterday).

I mean at this point this is kind of it. Pray that some of the rookies continue to look good. That’s about it.

To know what you have in your young players, particularly at QB and to get out of cap hell.
