Boosters have always been a large part, but with NIL and the portal boosters have basically neutered the Athletic Director’s power. I’m cutting off the money if coach _ isn’t fired tomorrow. That’s why you’re seeing all the in season firings.

Been that way behind the scenes forever. Some AD’s have more control over their program than others. The right AD hire these days is paramount. I checked out a few years back now it’s just like watching a train go by. Really don’t think about or care where it’s going

Uh yeah bro, money controls the world, RIGHT? Why would college football be any less. Now it is just out in the open.

I’m not sure that it’s a bad thing from a fan’s perspective.

Thats why its so hilarious that the tards are blaming Landry. Its because he said the quiet part out loud.

They wanted it to be all hush-hush so they could keep funneling the money to the people they wanted hired. Like Brian Kelly. While not even interviewing Lane Kiffen

Not nearly as hilarious as those who think Landry's idiocy does not affect the thinking of potential coaches' decisions.

Landry needs to STFU and worry about other things in this state. In trying to court votes, I know for certain he lost a few.

No coach is making a decision based on a governor

Otherwise Dan Lanning would have never left Brian Kemp to go with a lesbian, anarchist governor of Oregon

Was she commenting on football and acting like she was controlling the purse strings and causing the firing of coaches and ADs?

She was actively encouraging destroying cities where recruits live. And you have to go visit

right but the accusation against Woodward's firing was politically motivated by a donor(not a booster) of Landry.

This is obviously true. However, requiring booster involvement to be "behind the scenes" tamped it down to an extent. It's like gambling. People always bet on sports even though it was technically illegal. But now that it's out in the open, it's exploded.

Even if the NCAA was mostly toothless in this respect, the looming risk of enforcement had a prophylactic effect. Now that's gone and it is, like you say, just watching a train roll on.

The questions become (1) does anybody actually like it better this way? and (2) assuming the answer to 1 is no, who can do anything about it?

I think you have more money going into schools and a lower standard than ever to reach a meaningful post seasons

“I gave you millions and you can’t even get into the top 12?”

OK, so the money people control things behind the scenes. Why didn't they make it public?

Because they aren't a grandstanding, loudmouthed politician that wants everyone to think he's in charge. What an a-hole.

From up here in Virginia, it just makes Lousiana look bad. Really bad.

And if you don't think a potential top-tier candidate coach doesn't factor this into his decision, you are a fool.

She was actively trying to destroy cities in California, Texas and Arizona? That's where the majority of their players come from.

Lets pretend hi-school coaches arent going to bad mouth the Univ that never contacts them. He still has to visit, even if he doesnt sign anyone. And he did sign 18 Oregon players

Do people realize most of the boosters are also donors to Landry and LSU?
