Leaning towards a Sub Zero side by side with exterior ice/water dispenser.

Before we spend 16k, I would like some feedback. Even the KitchenAid is 11k though.

We would be buying in Nola area.

I really (really) like the Frigidaire side by side columns we just got. The narrow depth is a huge plus. If you want to see them there’s a display unit at campos on clearview. Massive upgrade for us from a standard depth French door unit. They also don’t have a bunch of shite to break like in door dispensers and touchscreens

A friend put similar into his backyard kitchen that cost much less. I can't remember the particular vendor, but it was similar to this. $3600, a couple of hundred in freight costs, and he paid me in beer to help him wheel it from his garage to the backyard.

I have never had an issue with any fridge/freezer combo.....BUT, every icemaker failed eventually.....so I buy bags of ice.

Check the icemaker design and reviews.

Have 48” subzero side by side. They work and look amazing. Nice having so much room. Also have a separate Hoshizaki ice maker that works as advertised. 2 great appliances.

Switched to Frence-doors cabinet depth about 5 years ago getting one with nothing fancy in the doors. It really increased space and movement in the kitchen. With only 2 people using it the reduction in space is OK. Around holidays it gets very crowded. Odd that we had to pay a premium to get a smaller fridge.

Is it the "cabinet-depth" part that makes it so expensive?

After the flood, I rearranged the kitchen and took the wall behind where the new fridge was going back about a foot. I had to take a little from a cubby space behind the wall.

New, bigger, better fridge for us and no loss of space. It was actually pretty easy.
