You get married at 25 and your wife divorces you at 35.
Therefore you're required to send her a check for the next 50 years to assure she continues to live in the same luxurious lifestyle that you provided decades earlier when you were married.

Had to be a bunch of women that came up with that law.
Men get screwed over enough in divorce without having to support their ex-wife for life.
But hey, if guys are stupid enough to get married then I guess they only have themselves to blame.

Sucks for you that you don’t live in Louisiana.

Did the wife agree to stay home and be a homemaker for the marriage so the husband could pursue his career?

Alimony is to compensate the wife and replace earnings so she does not become a ward of the state that depends on welfare / food stamps to survive.

Alimony is usually negotiated and not a default 50 years situation like you are stating.

This reads like an incel ragebait post against women lmao.

If the wife remarries I think that usually nullifies any alimony.

I don't think I've ever heard of 50 years of alimony. Have you?

Church of England separation before divorce, division of lands/properties , family wealth and that you had to pay to keep her sustained as was proper

and then those traditions filtered down to the peasant filth

Yes.
Many states have alimony for life if marriage is 10 years or more.
Marriage nullifies alimony, that's why they just don't get remarried

Not many. I looked it up. It is actually very few and even among those that don't prohibit lifetime alimony, it is typically for certain circumstances such as old age, disability or a very long (longer than a decade) marriage.

You're punching at something that isn't even a thing in MOST states nor circumstances, nor actualities.

Gold digging parasites in Florida are freaking out after DeSantis changed the Alimony Law.
They thought they had a life long meal ticket teed up & now they don't.

Who decided to eat the first oyster? Like, "hey I'm going to open this rock and eat what's inside it."

Of course he is

Why let facts get in the way of a good woman hate thread? Perhaps the OP should try men instead? There are a lot on here who would probably be happier if they just let themselves be who they are

Well, shite. I fell for another alter. The topic would suggest 08, but I believe the wife does pretty well for herself. Is this another gad thread?

Gad alter. Figured 08 would probably steer clear of this topic.

Wife is cheating or will be soon. Takes your kid and leaves. Now gets money for herself and kids. Ex husband has to live in a run down trailer to make it. Wife moves in with a guy with a nice home. Ex Husband gets laid off but still has to pay ex wife. Ex husband goes to jail for failing to make payments.

Ex wife can do and say anything she wants - even with your kid. Ex husband has to take it in the shorts.

The husband almost always gets screwed over.
