What's really going on here? What's really driving the invasion of the West?

Why didn't Europe send 3rd world nations, their former colonies, a bunch of money & infrastructure assistance instead of allowing an incompatible mass of refuse to populate & destroy their own countries? Destroying centuries of culture to appease the least appreciative.
And why is the USA playing along as if it too has some role to play in saving Central and South America?
Other than 'the Left simply want power over the Right', this makes zero sense.
Our Founding Fathers had intended to export freedom, not import misery and communism.

De-colonize but to what end? What greatness will be achieved to see Paris, London and other great cities fall, only to resemble the massive garbage heaps that these *migrants* have left behind?

They did try this for a long time, and still do to an extent. But now they feel like they should help the innocents being negatively affected by the vestiges of their colonial past.

Yes, sending pallets of cash over to these places isn't a good idea. That's understood. But the CCP 'Belt and Road' sort of initiatives at least direct that money to tangible projects which serve their communities and allow for monitoring on some level.
