Just hear me out.

We replaced 3 employees at LSU and whether we liked the change or not, it was overall for the best.

Woodward for Verge
Kelly for Wilson
Sloan for Atkins

All for lack of performance on the job in some way or another.

Now the question of Brad Davis. Of the 3 fired, he had by far the worst performance of the season above the 3 that were fired. The offensive line play was by far, the poorest of the above. This season may be the worst we've all seen as far as oline execution in decades.

If we are being transparent here in what needs to change and ultimately it may with a new HC, why wasnt he removed also?

Because it’s the scheme.

Who says he won’t? The new coach hasn’t been hired yet.

Maybe they didn’t have a replacement readily available.

Scheme has nothing to do with the abysmal oline technique.

They probably didn't fire him immediately because they weren't confident in anyone else stepping up to coach the oline for the rest of the season.

He is still 100% gone after the season is over.

This gets asked twice a day.
The answer is atkins went to OC. He's not gonna call plays and coach the Oline too. Plus need to keep Brad around as long as possible to keep recruiting, which is the thing he's good at.
He won't be on staff next year.

I think we have a chance to improve but I also think what we’re doing is old hat and will be hard to fix in short order. You might see some stuff added that will work much better but how much can you put in at this point?

Because he was Woodwards guy. Didn't let Kelly fire him. Another reason for Woody to go. Jeff just went about wrong way.

And that was never more evident than the first half of the aTm game when we actually ran the ball with authority. Then we abandoned it because frick having nice things.

Reminded me a lot of FSU 23 where as soon as they took the lead in the second half we panicked and abandoned everything that had us in position to compete.

We fired BK because it needed to happen. Wilson was named the interim. He wanted Sloan gone because, among other things, his playcalling did not make effective use of the running backs. I assume he did not request Davis be fired. Atkins would be the logical choice for OLine coach if you fired Davis, but he is assuming OC/playcalling duties in addition to already being the tight ends coach. I think it is just the need for a coach, but maybe Frank knows/sees something about the Sloan/BK offense that makes him think that the line will be OK with Davis staying until the end of the season.

He should have been the first to go.

You’ve insinuated a conspiracy around this question all week. Just say it and stop with the rhetorical questioning.

I get everything your saying and agree but there is absolutely NO excuse what so ever that he should still be on staff. None.

Wow.

This has been explained ad nauseum (look it up).

He is a very popular coach with players that we would like to retain. He is also the primary recruiter for some players we really want to come here.

So he doesnt get the early hook and it gives Frank a chance to make everything ok.

He wont be here next year.

Did this help?

This will be one of those questions that I guess will ultimately remain unanswered. I don't have the film, and even if I did, I don't know if I know enough to diagnose what the issues on the O-line are. We have Davis and Atkins both that could coach O-line, plus other analysts probably. So was it a technique problem, scheme, strength? Some combination? I have no clue. Maybe Davis wasn't the issue.

Because he was protected by Woodward.
