5 Points South (Birmingham Alabama) Business Owner Fed Up With Street Thuggery:

Birmingham business owner fears they will have to shut down after another fight…
This restaurant is adjacent to the Birmingham nightclub where a horrific mass shooting occurred last fall.
I am of the general opinion that no citizen — and especially a tax paying business owner providing employment opportunities in their community — should live in fear of violent street thuggery.
With that said, I will note that putting a “BLACK OWNED/WOMAN OWNED BUSINESS” decal on the front door of your establishment certainly will not make you immune to the consequences of you or your fellow citizens voting in politicians who allow this type of thuggery to continue unabated.

Bham , like most major metro areas, has been decimated by fatiguers.

They should have insurance (I’m joking. I’m sure their deductible wasn’t zero.)

To top it off, 2 or 3 buildings just up 20th Street burned in a massive fire. Five Points used to be a nice night life area. Has turned to shite. As per usual for Dem controlled cities.

Was pretty bad shooting. Only 4 out of 21 eliminated. Not real efficient.

You're def.not local. Five Pts south has long been an area to watch your back at night. The late 80s early 90s were full of gangs, I saw them almost drown a white dude in the fountain one night, he was out with a black girl.
This type shite is nothing new, the local news media wants to give the black biz owner the spotlight because she's black!!, bottom line!!!

Well, when you hold your gat at arms length over your head and sideways, you probably aren't going to be very accurate.

I used to love staying in 5 Points near the UAB campus during SEC media days. Most media would stay at the big hotels, but a couple of guts from Vandy and UF media, and I, would stay at this hotel in 5 Points .... I think it was The White Hotel maybe? My memory fails me .... but I stayed there for a number of years until everything moved to Hoover.
A ton of UAB students partied down there.
It's a shame to see that area taken over by thugs.
Same thing is happening in Columbia's Five Points.

Ironically named hotel is ironic.

Downtown, after dark, “changes”.
The mayor is soft on crime. He isn’t going to address the situation the way that it needs to be addressed. Cops- everywhere. State police have been offered and he declined saying it’s not needed. National guard would help.
Governor Ivey should push back but she’s kinda inept.
It’s a shame. Downtown bham is a decent downtown.
Business is going to haul arse when insurance becomes unobtainable. The spiral down follows….

Five Points isn’t downtown. Actual downtown Bham is much improved. There continue to be occasional incidents there, but it’s ok crime wise.

Yeah, I was being too broad in my use of term “downtown” but the last time I was in the downtown area, it was fairly quiet on a Thursday evening dinner.
I recall a quick uber ride to five points south to see a band.
I stayed at nice spot in mountain Brooke. Frankly, that’s a place I could see living

In the Dark Ages when I was in high school, Cobb Lane Restaurant was the high cotton choice to impress your date. I suspect the fire was started by homeless vagrants trying to stay warm during the first Fall cold spell since it apparently started in a vacant building under reconstruction on Cobb Lane.

The absurd thing is, the perps probably didn’t even hit the intended target.
