At the end of the day, Landry or whoever is the governor won't matter to the next HC

If BK was doing his job and actually winning games, none of this would be happening. You win here and you become more powerful than the governor. Simple as that.

You don't think Saban had more sway than the governor of Alabama? I understand politics are different there, but he was by far and away the most popular person in the state even with another rival state school to contend with.

Those politicians know where their bread is buttered and won't dare cross someone like that because it jeopardizes their reelection chances. As long as you are winning, this whole thing with Landry will be moot and Kiffin, Sumrall, etc. all know this.

I think you missed the point.

The impact of the Landry interference will be felt before hiring the next coach. It will potentially (likely) negatively impact who you hire.

Every job I’ve taken I never considered who could fire me as important in my decision

The whole point of the post was to say that it doesn't matter even now.

Landry is a moron and will say what he wants in public, but privately, the people with the actual money and the power brokers and boosters who finance Landry are the ones making the actual decisions.

With how this has already played out, the new coach will already be viewed as a savior and infinitely more popular off the bat.

Landry can say whatever he wants, but he's not an NFL owner. At the end of the day, he can't make coaching hires, he can't tell the coach what scheme to run and what assistants to bring on, who to play, etc. He may show up to a practice or two, but that's about it.

Sounds like Kelly was the one who got himself fired based strictly on overall job performance or rather not doing what they are paying him $10M to do?

If he had been winning games and fielded a competitive team, none of this would be happening.

The fan base wasn't sad to see him go. They are just unhappy that Landry is running his mouth about it after the fact.
