Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said there is not “sufficient” evidence that Tylenol causes autism, softening warnings he and President Trump have repeatedly made to discourage the medicine’s use by pregnant women and young children.

During a press conference Wednesday, Kennedy reiterated that pregnant women should use Tylenol only when “absolutely necessary."

“We’ve all said from the beginning that the causative association between Tylenol given in pregnancy … is not sufficient to say it definitely caused autism, but it is very suggestive,” Kennedy said.

“And so there should be a cautious approach to it, and that’s why our message to patients, to mothers, to people who are pregnant, the mothers of young children, is consult your physician, and we have asked physicians to minimize the use to one that’s absolutely necessary,” Kennedy added.

The secretary’s comments came more than a month after he and Trump held a press conference in September to specifically warn pregnant women against taking the medication, without citing any scientific evidence.

I think it's crazy how this guy is the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services and most people tune him out because he's a nut.

Great, now they'll reverse roles. Libs will be saying Tylenol is unsafe and MAGA will be drinking whole bottles of it and calling anyone concerned about it a panican

And I'm just over here trying to figure out how I can explain away being a weirdo now. It was much more convenient being able to say my mom drank and took Tylenol when she was pregnant with me.

As much of a nut as RFKJ is, I'd take him all week and twice on Sunday over this fugly clump of cells:

Same here. Now I have to actually put thought into telling people why I like trains so much.

So why did they tease the “major announcement about autism” for a week and then hold a huge press event to announce that Tylenol causes autism?

Was all that just to confuse people? Was it to manipulate stocks so insiders could get right?

WTF are they doing?

You've got a cool car and live in a cool place.

Highly doubt you're nuttier than RFK.

If nothing else, I appreciate the irony of putting an autistic guy in that position.

Meanwhile, in Texas ...

quote:

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against the companies Johnson & Johnson and Kenvue, claiming that they “deceptively” marketed Tylenol to pregnant mothers and that the medication is tied to an increased risk of autism. Kenvue said in a statement that the medication is safe and the company will “vigorously defend” against the claims.

he never said tylenol caused it. he said there is a link. and just because there isn't evidence now doesnt' mean there can't or won't be.

if there ever is proof of causation, look the frick out.
