Was talking with my wife last night and we realized it's been at least a year since we went, and we used to go all the time. A combination of how expensive it is, lack of time, and inconsiderate dickheads ruining the movie by talking/texting has really killed all our desire to go.

When was the last time you went (and what did you see)?

(Yes, I realize there's the M/TV board, but that'd skew the results since it's all movie fans.)

Took my daughter last year to see Wicked. Prior to that, it was probably to see Top Gun: Maverick.

It's been a long time. Pretty sure the last movie I went to was Unbroken in 2014.

Saw the new Tron movie at the IMAX

I go every now and then because I don't have the attention span to enjoy a movie at home

I went to see F1 a few months ago. The two main reasons I dont go as often is most movies come to VoD rental streaming now within a month or two of theater release....maybe 3-4 month before hitting HBO and I have a decent home theater set up. I still go to see films that you just need to see on a giant screen.

Last time I went was to see Fantastic 4, but I typically go all the time. Its my escape from the family for a few hours.
But the movie, large popcorn, large drink, and reeses pieces make it an expensive outing every time.

Wife and I will probably make it out to 2-3 movies a year. Usually by the time we find some free time to finally go see whichever movie, it's been in rotation long enough to where we're in a very small audience if not the only audience. Would recommend.

We take our daughter to a kids movie every couple months. Went to see F1 during the summer with my wife.

Haven't been alone in a while. I used to do it all the time when I was single. Might have done it 5 times since getting married 9 years ago. My wife doesn't understand the appeal, but slipping away to a good weekday matinee is an elite way to burn a couple hours.

I'm an AMC subscriber, so I go quite a bit. Sometimes with my wife, friends, or myself If I can't find anyone that wants to go.

Bringing my kid to see Snow White was the first feature I’d seen in theaters in over 5 years.

I’ve been to see many since then. I forgot there’s more magic to it than watching something at home alone and distracted.

Also, that movie made me a communist.

Some movies are just way better on the big screen with the theater sound system.

Everyone repeats this, yet it’s certifiably false. I go to the movies routinely, and it’s easily the cheapest entertainment around. What other activity can you do with two people to kill a couple hours for less than $50?

$50 gets you 20 mins of laser tag, 15 mins of go karting, 20 mins at the arcade, two games bowling…

I actually love when they do the old movies on the big screen. We've seen the original Halloween and Ghostbusters at our local theater and had a blast both times. Wish they did more of them.

Maverick or a Jurassic Park... it's actually the cellphone screens that annoy me the most- hard to focus in on the screen when there's dozens of lit up screens around you.

Our closest theater got the neat reclining seats- so much more comfy than what they used to have.
