I wouldn't doubt he told Denbrock he wasn't going to be there much longer .

Im just curious as top what set him off. If in deed he shut it down, what was happening that made him just say frick it.

He did want to win a title.
He had a bazillion dollars already even from before he came to LSU.

Something had to have made him think he wasnt gonna make it put of there. He lost his control.

If what has been suggested about a worsening alcohol problem is true, this may have impacted his motivation and drive

I believe it was something else and the drinking was the release.

Maybe the AD/Assist AD and a couple coaches can shed some light? Wondering also why many team members did like Kelly anymore.

When governor has nearly complete control of a university academics to athletics its not good.

This being talked about across the country is not a good thing for Louisiana or LSU.

Louisiana ranks last or dead last in so many things but governor is on every show that will give him a microphone. Giving the image he has nothing else to work on.

Then you have optics of his inner doings of having Tate ousted.

One theory is it could've been Woodward injecting himself into portal requests, etc.

But we’re hearing he was uninvolved from the start. Not responding to assistant coaches, not involved in recruiting, having affair and filing for divorce. Unstable behavior which seems inconsistent with his past behavior

Wow, even in today's times you rarely see the amount of character assassination that has been present on this deal. Oh, it was an affair...oh, it was drinking...oh, it was losing the locker room...oh, it was he didn't care that much anymore about coaching blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. As far as SOME players not liking him, I believe that 100%. That is true of every football coach in the history of football...college, pro, etc.

Why the program really went off the rails with a few less gossipy reasons:
1) Kelly found out that the SEC was tougher to win than at Notre Dame
2) he made the same mistake that Orgeron made about assistant coaches. When the OC went back to ND, he just gave an important position to basically a novice/Sloan. Remember when Orgeron hired Pelini as DC and NEVER even interviewed the guy?
3) like many coaches, he is stubborn, has too much loyalty to certain players, and is resistant to change. Why did it take 8 games to figure out that Berry was far and away a better RB than Durham. I saw it the first game that Berry played...it isn't even debatable IMO.

He said to judge him after year 3. People who brought this up after last season were branded “negatigers”.

If fans were not going to hold CBK accountable or even attack other fans in his defense, why should he care what kind of product he put on the field?

People have been calling him a drunk for decades. I don't think that's what tipped the scale.

It's more likely a combo of:

- being not as good as advertised

- playing against much tougher competition on a weekly basis

- accumulated "frick you" money

- now in his mid 60s

- got sick of the extremely high bar we expected year in and year out

Find another topic for your rant. The governor had nothing to do with why Kelly was fired. I am no fan of the governor and will never vote for him again. But give the devil his due. He took the bull by the horns and got Kelly fired.
