I think he said patently, but his accent made it a little difficult to understand that one. I even tried to put closed captioning on and it skipped that word.

On the McAfee show, Pat asked him to clarify what he means by setting the template for these coaches contracts, I'm going to try and quote it word for word...

Landry's response: "I think that everyone is in agreement here in the state of Louisiana that the next coach that we hire is going to have a patently different contract. If that agent can't see what's coming down the pipe and the way... Look, these big name coaches are big names because they win, what are they afraid of? Right. If you're the best, you shouldn't have to worry, you say guess what? I'm putting my reputation on the line and when I win, this is how much money I want."

He then goes on to talk about how coaches can essentially give up during the course of a contract and all that good stuff.

Landry talking out of his arse, making promises he can't keep but knows that if he says enough buzzwords to play up to his base, he'll be fine.

Sexton has been ruining the sport. I'm okay with Landry pointing that shite out.

The national media is now giving Landry all the rope he needs to hang LSU.

This is the only part of anything Landry has said since yesterday that makes sense. I still think he should stay FARRRRR away from this process.

If LSU can begin the trend of hiring coaches on five year contracts that are heavily driven by incentives and performance based, the rest of the NCAA would be appreciative.

Sounds like coonass for "The smart move is a 5 year contract with massive incentives." Which makes perfect sense.

He was on the Walton and Johnson radio show this morning. He said he interjected himself into the situation because he wanted to make sure the state wasn’t going to be on the hook for some of the buyout. He said he would give some names to the board and they would make the decision.

He’s not wrong but I’d be okay without his media tour.

Just going to hope that they are actually playing chess by stringing along Jeff’s shtick

Having a control mechanism in place, for coaches salaries, is probably something every AD and University President wants. We all must admit salaries are out of control. Landry may be ahead of the curve on this. 10 million a year comes to $3200 per hour for a 60 hour work week.

And, of course, he’s too stupid to recognize it.

He’s about as smart as Marv from Home Alone.

he had no buyout if he left Alabama on his own. He 10000% had a buyout if they fired him

So why would any coach with an acceptable amount of experience or success for a program like LSU take a "prove it" contract when they already have one with guaranteed money and a high salary at their current school, or are being offered one by Florida, Penn St., etc.?

1) A head coach with proven success and experience

2) A unique, buyout-friendly contract

Pick one.

If you want a top-line coach, you're going to have to pay top-line prices in both dollars and time.

It's that simple.

And here we are. This is BAD. Holy shite man just keep your mouth shut and stop inserting yourself into sports. This is maddening and not going to be working out well for LSU.
