BOS to make the hire?

I did a little research and could not find one instance where a BOS or a group like a BOS has ever hired a college football coach. Research was simply asking ChatGPT. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Not gonna lie it has me worried a little bit only because if the coach isn't hired by the next AD then that coach will have a short leash because he isn't his guy. Not the end of the world really it just seems strange.

I can’t imagine the coaching pool is a great one if your boss is the BOS. What kind of job as a football coach is that?

I agree that is why I think it's strange. Board or supervisors typically meet with the offered candidate to hear the plan and such and then ok it or whatever. Not actually lead the search and hire the coach.

They are actually responsible for approving the coaches pay.

This is why I think Rousse brings his AD with him. He wouldn't be someone in a position to be at odds with whoever we hired

You get Rousse and Schroyer at LSU then who knows…maybe they bring Wade back when McMahon gets the boot.

This is such a mess going on right now. No tier 1 coach is going to want to leave their current job to come to this fiasco. We'll end up with someone further down everyone's board - hopefully Sumrall bc I personally feel that's still a great outcome

Jesus Christ did any of you listen to any of what Landry said? I can’t stand the guy but my God.
He literally said at his presser that the BOS will come up with a committee who will then make the hire.

1. The BOS didn’t even know that.
2. A committee making this hire is just as bad as the governor. The ATHLETIC DIRECTOR should be in charge! Nobody wants to work for a place where they’re going to have 17 interim bosses and no clue who is going to come in and eventually take over after.
LSU and the state need to quit their pissing match and get some continuity going. This is historically bad at the absolute WORST possible time.
