Young and hungry. He will be getting NFL HC looks in the very near future. LSU should lock him in before that happens.

think he wants an NFL job so it would be a stepping stone at best. love him, but no thanks. we need someone who views this as the destination.

Landry won’t approve a black coach

Bad idea
LSU isn't a proving grounds for guys like this. Just so inexperienced in so many ways

He's been liking social media posts calling for him to be the HC. And according to some past players, he'd jump at the opportunity.

I’d love the hire…
It may not happen and I severely doubt it would… but this is the rant and fun speculation.. if we don’t get Lane..
I’d love to get Saban for a 2-3 year deal.. you bring in Kelvin.. Saban basically runs the show the 1st year 2nd year Kelvin runs it a little more and by the 3rd Saban is basically a mentor and lets Kelvin run the show..
It won’t happen but you gotta make the call
And then Kelvin sets it up perfectly

I’ll tell you what, I just went down a rabbit hole of videos of his interviews… I want Sheppard as the coach and I think he will be a home run hire
Posted on 10/29/25 at 5:44 pm to FlappingPierre
Sheppard would be pretty good at lsu imo as long as he got a top oc. He would be cheap and would want to prove himself. Now I would have to hear his plan for oc and the offense.
The players will love him. He is smart, young, and hungry.
Has the lions defense playing well with so Many injuries and suspensions

Why because they're both black? Watch a few interviews of the guy and I think you will see why some are so high on him. I personally think he needs a few more years and we would be better off getting him in 4 years when we look for a new coach then but I would be excited if they got him now and paired him with a young OC.

I love Kelvin Sheppard & he was my favorite player of childhood.
Give it 5-10 years? Absolutely, I’d love nothing more than Shepp to be our coach.
Not at this moment in time, he’s never been a college coach, hasn’t gone through the recruiting trail, it’s a much different lifestyle than the NFL and it’s a grind.
