He also struck out 10 batters over 6 scoreless in-between that

I am pulling for a perfect game today.

Toronto isn’t going to pitch to him the rest of the series.

And his strikeouts are on 100mph heaters and his homers literally leave the stadium

It’s understandable but a damn shame for fans. Hopefully Betts and Freeman make them pay. It would also help if Pages wasn’t an automatic out.

It's arguably the stupidest rule in all of sports and there's no good reason why it can't be amended (see: shift, DH, extra inning rules, pitch clock, etc).
A poster last night (I forget who) had a great idea of only 1 intentional walk per team per game.
Obviously you can still "unintentionally intentionally walk" Ohtani as we saw in the 17th inning or whatever last night, but the pitcher and manager should have to complete the disgraceful act and be subject to a minute worth of boos and ire from the fans, and making them complete the act also increases the pitch count and risks a wild pitch or passed ball.
If that didn't help enough you could mandate that any pitch too far outside of the zone in back to back to back scenarios results in a warning and then an ejection of the pitcher and manager.
This scenario is where a robot umpire could monitor a LARGER zone which is like 8" larger than the existing strike zone on all sides, and any consecutive pitches outside of this "wider zone" also results in an ejection.

quote:It really is. Baseball already has a hard time with stars because of how infrequent they are in action on the field and now its biggest star is basically done hitting in the sport’s brightest moment. Betts better step up.

Toronto wins easily yesterday if they just didn’t pitch to him. Yet they did it four times

There are a lot of options to tweak the rules. It does change the game. But the sport has to think about fans.
