Kelly had to know he was going to get fired

We all knew he wasn’t going to make it past A&M with a loss, including Kelly. So why not try everything possible to win? We spent millions on the roster and on Kelly, only to find out he was not going to make 1 simple decision, one simple try at benching Nuss at least for a series to see if MVB could help our offense. How could you not try with all the money spent on the defense and the sacrifice the NIL collective made to make sure we compete?
Kelly is one of those selfish people that you help and give them everything they want, only for them to do you wrong the next day as if they don’t even know you or care what you did for them.
I just want our next coach to simply coach the game, don’t over think it. We have not been playing the game of football on offense this year. We created a new version of football where whatever the play is, you have to run it. And your QB is not allowed to run. That’s what it literally looked like all year.
It all leads to him doing this on purpose so he could get fired to ride off with millions, and playing a manipulative mind game. Crazy thing is, I don’t think anyone needs convincing that he got himself fired on purpose looking back on everything.

I’m not sure he did. He had a huge long term contract. He had been a winner elsewhere and most likely thought he could make some changes and be given another year or two at least to figure it out. He thought he had some grace and some people on his side
He did not
He did not

He may have underestimated the rigors and passion of the SEC

I think he was wavering if he even wanted to do this last season. He got LSU to spend $18m on this year's roster knowing if it worked out he'd see the fruits of it and if it didn't he'd just get fired and go back to the beach with his wife. I just don't think he cared anymore.

Oh, I suspected pretty strongly that we were going to lose to A&M.

This is false, even the AD and donors didnt know.
Proof if that is the meeting that supposedly went south. The plan was for him to shite can Sloan, then he got another season to fix it with a new OC but whether the rumor of Woodward talking at another coaches firing or not are true something didnt happen like planned. So the donors made a knee jerk reaction and fired him.
Now right or wrong reaction, time will tell, but there was no plan at all to fire BK this weekend

I really think thats what happened. I think he saw what Miles and O had doen here and really thought it was that easy if he just came down. He learned that SEC is different and the competition is ridiculous day in day out.

That’s simply not true.

Yeah he always seemed way too comfortable because of his massive buyout and probably thought lsu didn’t have the stomach to pull the trigger. It was probably a shock to him.

Boom!
He had no idea how high the expectations are here at LSU nor did he have any idea just how tough the SEC is.
What's even sadder regarding his abilities as a head coach is that the SEC has been trending down almost the whole time he's been at LSU and he couldn't even handle a down SEC. A Boston New Englander had no business being head coach at LSU.

I agree with a lot of your post…however, I think this is just paranoid. Most everyone has a pretty strong suspicion when they are about to be fired, but to think BK wanted to be fired and somehow planned it that way is pretty far-fetched.

So they fired him with no plan in place? If true that just underscores the lack of leadership at LSU athletics.

Well he did spend $1 million out of his own pocket for roster upgrades

Maybe because win or lose, retained or fired, he would make the same ridiculously huge pot of money (or a smaller negotiated lump sum of still ridiculously huge money he would have to agree to)
The stupid huge guaranteed contracts have to stop. I’m fine paying stupid money- but make them earn it with incentives.

As soon as he realized he had fricked up and wasn’t going to win a championship this year Kelly wanted to get fired so he could leave the South with tens of millions of dollars and retire. I don’t buy the “his ego was driving him” BS…he’s been checked out and coasting for much of his time here by all accounts.
And why not if worst case scenario is you leave with an $800k/month annuity for the next 6 years?

They paid Nuss almost $3m to come back. That’s a big part of all of this.
It’s a different time. Someone paid that. You have to play that game.

My opinion is that Kelly thought he had to work to hard at ND to get results.
He thought by coming to LSU, that the money spent on players would allow him to be distant and aloof.
He was wrong.

I don’t care if you think its knee-jerk. It was the right thing to do and i’m happy he is gone
You can’t lose to A&M at home like that. Watching them act like jackasses in TS was unacceptable
