at a major program? I can’t recall a time when this actually salvaged a coach or returned a program to the top levels.

Go ahead and pull the trigger.

To that end, if Sloan is gone, who will call plays? Bk is far too lazy to step into that role.

I am pretty sure Tim Rattay knows a thing or two about calling plays!

When coordinators are getting fired mid-season, you have truly entered desperation mode. It would be a last gasp effort to show that you can do something to make it right, but it was your own stupidity that got you into the situation to start with. Kelly has made his own bed by making absolutely terrible coordinator hires. He fricked the defense and wasted the best offense in college football, then he turns around and fricks the offense and somewhat fixes the defense by hiring multiple people he fired when he arrived..... I mean, for fricks sake, you can't make this shite up.

Kelly fired Van Gorder 4 games into a season they finished 4-8 in. He hired Elko the next year. Elko left after 1 year, and he promoted Clark Lea. In those 4 years he had both DCs, he finished 10-3, 12-1, 11-2, 10-2 (covid year), and then he hired Freeman and finished 11-1.

If you're talking offense, Gary Patterson. TCU moved up to Big 12 play from the Mountain West and that pro style crap wasn't working anymore. He had gone 7-6 and 4-8 in back to back years. Then he hired Sonny Cumbie (play caller) and Doug Meachem (WR coach), as co-coordinators. They went from the 68th and 87th offenses to the #2 and #7 offenses over the next 2 years. They went 12-1 and 11-2 in that span.

It can definitely be done.
