What do Boosters/Donors actually get in ROI from putting money in?

Just an average Joe here. I understand sponsors paying for signage and media rights… I get that. Is it really just a straight donation for boosters to see the program succeed because of their love of the University? What is your incentive/motivation?

I don't donate very much except for my TAF donation to get my season tickets.

When you get up to the top tier booster level there are many perks for access to players, coaches, seats, parking, etc.

Winning sports programs are the ROI.

I suspect LSU is like all the other major schools with maybe a few exceptions.
I’ll give an example. If I walk in the door of the TAF with a $30,000 check and ask “what do I get now?, the answer would be a good slap on the back and an “atta boy”. If walked in the door with a $300,000 check, they would give me a pair of the few season tickets they have (baseball).
Over the course of 30 years, I had football season tickets. At the end of that run, my total donation excluding the cost of the tickets was north of $100,000. Neither LSU nor the TAF ever acted or published anything suggesting or giving evidence that that level of money meant anything to them.
TLDR: the ROI is a warm cozy feeling that you helped support winning programs.

The LSUsports.net website has a section titled "The Oaks" that gives info on donation levels and what they entitle a donor to receive.
Their is also the coaches committee section for baseball.
