Top of the bag gapping 5w/UW/3h/DI

The face has started to crack on my old faithful 818 H2 19° hybrid so it’s time to find a replacement to fill the spot in my bag. I have a Srixon zx mkII 21° driving iron but it falls a little short of the area I’m wanting filled unless I just absolutely catch it on the screws. On average it doesn’t play much longer than my 4i. So the question is really 3h, 19°UW, or 5w and what are y’all playing and would recommend.
I’m intrigued by the utility wood. Ideally whatever I replace my 3h with is going to need to be a fairway finder off the Tee and a 240-250ish yard club

I’ll do a ban bet with you that you can’t provide data of you hitting a hybrid 250yds.

I’d go somewhere like a pga tour superstore or something that has a track man to help you find the club that fills in the gap.
Right now I have a pretty massive 4i (210) to 3h (240) gap and I think how useful it would be if I went somewhere to find a club that went about 225ish. But, I’m lazy and just end up trying to choke down on the hybrid from 223-235 or smash a 4 iron from 215-222

I feel that. I play my 4i as if I’m going to flush it every swing (225) and if I don’t I just live with it and hope it makes up the difference rolling out.
Top of my bag is in shambles. Driver spends more time in timeout than it does being trusted and 3w somedays will be my favorite club on earth and the next day I’m liable to hit nothing but tops with it. So the third “wood” in my bag ends up seeing its far share of use.

I use a 3H(19) and a Srixon U65 4(23) utility iron and they gap pretty well for me. I don't think I could leave the hybrid. Its so versatile and easy to hit from the tee.

Real long ball hitters know that hybrids are pointless. It goes big stick, wedge, flat stick in that order.
*this is a bit*

I quit carrying a 3wood this year. I went with a 5wood and 7wood instead, 5wood is enough for short par 4s and to come into par 5s from 230. 7 Wood covers 215-225. Over 50 and dont play anywhere much over 6700 yards.

I actually hit a buddy’s G440 7wood once yesterday. Other than I wasn’t crazy about all the loft looking up at me at address I absolutely smashed it to the moon to cut the corner on a dogleg par4. Idk what it carried but I definitely would be interested in hitting one on the sim just to see if I could get enough out of it to fit the gap im going to have to fill. It’s the first one I’ve hit but I can see the hype around them(being so easy to get elevated).

The actual UW or the Apex Super hybrid? But im definitely interested in the UW. I watched a YouTube video of Steph Curry absolutely mashing it about a month ago. He was getting 165+ ball speed out of it.

You ought to check ok the Titleist GT 1 hybrids. I believe the strongest lofted one is 20* maybe but it’s a helluva club. My daughter has one in the 23* head and it’s her go to for 175-180ish shots. It’s goes high and lands soft. It’s an amazing club. Thinking I might get one a little higher lofted to replace my 5i since I don’t hit it worth a shot.

Callaway Pre owned had the OG UW 17° in a 6.5 Hzrdus black for sub $125 so I just ordered it to see how I like the feel of the UW before dropping almost $400 on the new one in a 19°. Nowhere in NorthLa has them instock to actually swing before ordering yet

I play a 4 wood. If I were you, I'd go driver, 4w then 7w

quote:that’s definitely a gapping I’ll probably experiment with this winter. I’m a tinkerer with a simulator so I’m sure I’ll have tried 1000 things by spring.

I'm an old dude - I hit 12 deg Sim Max 2 - 16.5 HL 3W - 24 deg Q35 hybrid
5-AW irons - gaps are good for me and my 85 mpg swing

*Update if Anyone cares
Ups delivered my 17° UW I ordered from Callaway preowned to test. Unfortunately they didn’t send me the first Gen version I ordered and instead sent the 2024 model that isn’t as highly regarded. Initial testing shows good ball speed(average of 155) and a mid launch that falls between a hybrid and my 3w that I hit to low. Spin rate in the mid 3000s. Ball wasn’t carrying as far as I would have expected on my launch monitor so that was a little disappointing but I walked outside and tee’d one up to hit out over my pond into about a 15mph wind directly into my face. It cut through the wind extremely well while steadily gaining height as it disappeared. If it flys like that on the course I’ll find a spot to fit it in the bag even it requires me to remove my 3w.
I can definitely see the appeal of this type of tweener club and will take it to the course tomorrow to see exactly how it performs. Definitely noticed right away that it doesn’t want to go left on me like most hybrids do.

I have the 17, 19 and 21 versions of the OG Apex UW. I find the 19° the best. You can choke up and hit it shorter or fly it 260 in the air. The 17° is a rocket but doesn’t get as much height. The 19° is typically my second club in the bag and my fairway finder. Driver swing is around 117-118 for what it’s worth.
