With whit out and facing an explosive wr room, i truly think baker should lean
Into the strength of the defense which is the secondary and run nickel. I don’t see any reason Mansoor Delane Pj woodland and DJ Pickett shouldn’t be on the field together the majority of the game to combat this explosive wr room. IMO perk should move to one of the lb spots next to west weeks and we should run a 4-2-5.

The vandy game showed rhe 3 lb look doesn’t work without whit and honestly doesn’t work in general agaisnt teams with an explosive wr game due to the struggles keys and west have in coverage .

85% of the frickers on this board can’t properly articulate what a frickin RPO is, yet you expect them to scheme a whole defense??

Some of yall give this board way too much credit

We should be playing a 3 safety look as our base defense, and perk as the star (not counted as a safety). When you have haulcy, cooley, spears... you put them on the field. You dont play wes and keys and say eh we'll see what happens. They cant cover or move sideline to sideline. I expected baker to be more versatile with whit out. He was the complete opposite and showed a bullshite 2 lb base front and perk as the star. Wes and keys standing flat footed waiting to get loads all over their face. And then shocked by the outcome. Maybe have spears on a te, not 5'9 hedge hog keys. Maybe perk as only lb on 3rd and more then 4, cause wes and keys just stand their in zone coverage at best, and any decent player can go find space, catch a 6 yd hitch

Of course

But with Spears, Cooley and Haulcy as your base

Cooley played nickel at NC State, and Spears has covered slots all year.

Gets you a good tackler on the field with Spears

Affirmative ! Perkins needs to shine like he did against Clemson.

Should have been in the nickel the whole year, with Perk and Whit as the LBs. Our secondary is strong. 3 LBs gets always gets one of them exposed on coverage, which nine of ours LBs are good at.

agree, agree, agree.
Pickens has to be on the field and Perkins has to be put in a postion on the field where he can be part of the game. He has been lost lately.
Put him over the center with a 5 man dline every play, and let him rush, drop into short coverage of the middle zone to disrupt any short crossing patterns which A&M loves. He has to be part of the defense for LSU to be effective at all , especially with Whit out.

You play nickel when the down and distance or offensive personnel dictate it. If we stay in nickel all night they will run the ball down the field with ease.

If that will stop a mobile QB, then run it

Our problems with running QBs is a Baker issue not an alignment or personnel problem. Last season we ran nickel and it didn’t work, going back to it won’t make any difference either way. He needs to spy the QB with Perkins, it worked to stop guys like Dart, Bryce Young and AR15, there’s no reason not to be doing vs these lesser QBs.

They did.. with 3 lbs on the field. We should have blitzed gaps and edges with Perkins, and all 3 safeties on the field. Pavia wasn't gonna beat us throwing. All his passing was rollout easy 5 yd to te, or find someone in 6 yd hitch between slow zone lbs, sideline 10 yd or under throws. We let him scramble 3 times with 0000 people within 20 yds of him proximity. We needed more speed, and tell haulcy, cooley, spears sack up this game, your all rotating box safeties today and pavia will be taken down. Instead we sat in 2 slow mlb set formations flat footed

I just saw a stat we only blitzed him 13 out of 31 drop backs. Should have been 25. He just sat back there and waited til a run gap opened to walk for 10-20 yd sliding easy gain.... minus the 3 cb blitzes our guys didnt break down, and whiffed on easy easy sack/ incompletion chances.

We played the same dude last year, and he was horrible. So frustrating to lose this game
