What’re the benefits of spending thousands and even millions of dollars into a football program to help pay for a coach, facilities, funds or contribute to the NIL collective?

What is the return on investment? I just wanted a better understanding of why someone with money would spend their hard earned money towards a college football program, besides helping them to win, unless there is a return investment from it.

Lose 3 out of the 4 remaining conference games and retain BK, those donations will probably be a lot less for next season .

I have the same type question. Like - billionaires dont usually just give away their money unless they get some benifit in return. That is usually why they are billionaires.

I donated $1000 last year. I won’t donate again until Kelly is gone. I know $1000 is a drop in the bucket of the NIL budget but gotta imagine a lot of people are doing similar

I refuse to give anything to LSU. There is no return on investment. No alumni scholarships anymore. No commitment to the program for majority of recruits. Plenty of other options to spend my money.

Bingo. Tax write off that counts towards the team you root for potentially being better

It’s mostly just wanting to see your school/team win & be successful. There are some perks with TAF & The Oaks for big donors, but they would still donate if they weren’t available.

Maybe you get your name on a wall somewhere, but it’s not the motivation for the most part

ETA: it probably doesn’t make sense for majority of middle class people, but the Dave Portnoy’s, Todd Graves, etc of the world don’t view it as “wasting” their hard earned money. Their millions are also like the equivalent of $100 to normal fans

I get it people are pissed off. Tracking.

But lets take a clear headed minute to think the above through.

Whats the hitch on moving on from Kelly? Money.

We currently are asking the booster class to buy HS players, maintain our existing roster and buy new portal players. And pay coaches buyouts.

So, if you really want Kelly gone pound the NIL donations. Every dollar you put toward the roster frees up a dollar to move Kelly down the road.

Not much LSU is behind the curve like most things. Even being a season ticket holder is a joke, the only time I’ve heard from my rep is when he asked if I was going to renew (which I had done a month before he called ).

They only cater to the 1% crowd
