I’m bored at work and saw a video of a miserable teenager leaving a Jets game lamenting the fact that he was born into the fanhood, and it got me thinking about it.

NFL - Jets. Just utter dogshit since Namath sold his soul. Even their “good” teams have been pretty flawed.

NBA - Washington Wizards, but I’m not sure they actually have fans. Being a Sacramento Kings fan has to have been tough, especially knowing NBA refs literally cheated and took out your best team ever.

MLB - Athletics. Decent teams that never got over the hump due to unbelievably cheap ownership, and then that same owner sells out to take the team to Vegas. Brutal.

NHL - I don’t follow hockey, but being an Arizona Coyotes fan must have sucked.

Bonus NCAA fact - There are 3 schools who have never won a team championship in any sport: Kansas State, Virginia Tech, and UCF.

The Browns. Got your team taken away and then they gave you back a franchise so inept that you would have been better off with it still dead.

Pelicans have to be up there…every star player we’ve ever had has wanted out, counting Zion who has quiet quit

For NFL I’d say Texans… Browns and Jets have historical success to look back on. Texans and Jaguars have been around long enough now that not making a Super Bowl yet kind of stands out

NFL - Falcons, 28-3, that has to be tough

NBA - Pelicans, cursed

MLB - A's, I totally agree with the OP on that one.

NCAA- Texas A&M, I would really hate being gay.

All chicago sports. Teams like the pelicans or rays are small markets and have a reason to be bad.

Chicago is a top 3 or 4 market in the country and the franchises by and large suck because of their shite ownership. They have no excuse to be consistently incompetent

Wiz fan here, they’re indeed the worst. But hope is on the horizon with a real front office recently from the Presti tree. Should’ve landed Harper or Flagg though, corrupt and rigged NBA though.

Good choice. Good thing they don't win....the fans and such don't need a bigger stage.

Sadly, its probably the Raiders. They stopped being just an NFL franchise a long time ago. I don't know what the Raiders have been or want to be the last 20 years...probably longer, probably back to when Al kept suing the League.

The fans, the owner, the Coaches, everything about them is just a sideshow, a costumed circus that shows up on Sunday to goof around and give drunk Mexicans an excuse to dress up and fight in the parking lot.

One of the bigger travesties in sports was when Washington changed its names from the Bullets to the Wizards. At the time, I roomed with a couple guys and one worked for the local sports station and he got a call like 2 days before it was announced they changed to Wizards. I stopped really caring then.

I mean i used to go to the Cap Centre and watch those losers but they used to always have characters. And with the Wiz it has been a nightmare. But there is hope.

There’s historical success in Chicago, including the GOAT in basketball…one of the GOAT and iconic Super Bowl champions, both baseball teams broke long droughts, and they even won Stanley Cups… even now have produced a President and a Pope

Right now that incompetency is in New York

NHL - Sabres have to be up there...so close a couple times and now they are on a long long non playoff streak. Great fans. Great city.

Sabres for NHL for sure. What’s worse is you can make an all time great current team with the players the Sabres let go

I refuse to acknowledge Chicago teams in this thread as a candidate, outside of mayyybe the White Sox. Sure, they've had a harder last 10 years or so, but we're all old enough to laugh at this notion.

- Bulls had the 90s. fricking insane, generational run with the greatest basketball player ever and still talked about constantly. Won a ton under Thibodeau later on and had a lot to cheer for as well.

- Cubs won it all in 2016 and made the NLDS this year.

- Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2011, 2013, and 2015

Even the White Sox won a WS in 2005 and made the ALDS a few years ago.

ETA:

forgot the Bears...they made a Super Bowl in recent memory and playoffs like 5 years ago, but that organization does suck recently as well.

I just can't feel sorry for Chicago

Lots of truth here. I've been a Raiders fan as long as I can remember. My dad was a teenager when Stabler went there, and he became a fan then. So I was sort of born into it. When I was in college they were actually a good team. Gruden's first tenure, and they made playoff runs several years in a row, before he left for Tampa and ended up playing the Raider in the Super Bowl. Since then they have only made the playoffs as a wild card twice.

I always root for K-State and Va Tech. Gotta get one in something, at some point. They've both had some good men's or women's hoops teams over the years.

UCF doesn't count, been in a power conference for like 5 minutes.

In the NFl, it's the Jets. They're atrocious, with no hope on the horizon. The Falcons are mediocre, and the Jets would kill to be where the Falcons are.

MLB: the Brewers. Never been any good. Never really been competitive. They're just... there.

NHL: the Coyotes and Thrashers. Both moved, both atrocious ownership situations. I pulled for both. frick Winnipeg.

Not to mention your former "team" went on to win two Super Bowls while you're still waiting to even be in one

Rockies are up there for baseball. 5 playoff appearances in 30 years, just 2 series wins, both in '07. the worst active winning percentage among clubs in the sport. never won their division. recently, they've lost 90+ games past 4 years in a row. I get the A's being up there too

Sabres for hockey has to be the only answer. The running joke of the league
