Rank the Open CFB Coaching Jobs

1A Penn State - Undisputed king of college football in PA and the Northeast. $700 million currently underway in facility upgrades. Fundraising was a cluster frick from 2011-2022ish from the JoePa fan boys upset about how he was "treated"..seems to be total alignment now in buying a successful program. Huge alumni base with wealthy donors.
1B Florida - One of the more coveted jobs in the SEC. History surprisingly thin outside the Spurrier and Meyer years. Would rank them slightly below PSU because of this and they share the State with FSU and The U. Most coaches would probably find Gainesville FL more desirable to live than State College PA
2 Arkansas - Tough job to win big but they have resources and Fayetteville is beautiful.
3 UCLA - We know the challenges they face but living in LA and playing in the Rose Bowl will appeal to some.
4 Virginia Tech - Dedicated fan base, upgraded stadium and facilities, have good in state recruiting bases.
5 Oklahoma State - Have good facilities, with the right coach they have a path to win the Big 12.
6 Oregon State - Tough gig.

I got down voted to hell last week for saying it’s an incredibly overrated job. It’s treated like a blue blood opening every time….but there’s a reason they continue to churn through coaches.
It’s not a bad job but not not sure it’s as elite as the media says

Florida
PSU
Arky
UCLA
VT
Okie St
Stanford
Oregon St
I’d almost put Stanford higher because they are flush with cash, but the portal restrictions really make it hard

Yes they have been a revolving door of coaches. Zook, Muschamp, Mcelwian, Napier so for whatever reason they havent had any stability.
PSU on the other hand has had 3 coaches since 1966. That stability will appeal to some candidates.

Florida
Penn State
Arkansas
OK State
VT
UCLA/Oregon St
My considerations are:
-In state recruiting
-NIL money
-Path to playoff
-School name prestige
ETA: See someone mentioned Stanford, would put them 3rd. Having Andrew Luck involved in the GM type role could make them a sneaky contender to make some noise with a good hire.

Arkansas is too high on the list. Yeah, they have the Wal-Mart money, but nobody has consistently won there in years. There is not a ton of in-state talent to pick from.

Arkansas has not bought in on NIL either. The new generation of money up there is seemingly not tethered to the university.

Florida should be an elite of elite job. Whether it is - debatable.
It's a big brand, huge school, huge state, massive resources, massive exposure.
It should be in the Texas/Ohio State/Michigan realm if properly capitalized on.

So sad, I kind of rooted for them in the old P10/12. I always thought it was a decent job, but realignment has killed them. Hopefully the new look P12, basically a new Mountain West, can provide them with some stability.

I think the hard part about these type of rankings is that different pools for coaches..
Florida and Penn St...pretty well a destination job (only a few schools above them)
Vt and Ok St - stepping stone jobs these days...you take these jobs to kick butt and then get your dream job at a place like the above or LSU, ND, etc..
Arkansas - the chances of winning the NC is nearly impossible these days with the conference and the competition. You are walking out the gate every year with 3-4 losses. Can you sustain that to go somewhere bigger
UCLA - frankly considering they give money to other schools from their Big 10 allotment, it is a weird situation. How commited are they to footbal? IN this day and age, it is about money. You can bring in the best coach and loves LA but NIL wise the kid may go down the street to USC or Oregon, etc
Stanford - as you all said, great great school...but not using the portal in this day and age will be tough
Oregon St - poor Beavers...I would like to have a discussion on where you would rank this job in the new Pac 12. Is is it up top? Behind Boise St, San Diego St, etc?
