Heading there in a couple of days. Spending a few days there, and a couple of days in Dublin before heading to Scotland for bird hunting. Any restaurants in the area y’all would recommend?
We have reservations at Aniar, think I’m spelling that right, which has a star, one night and reservations at the hotel another, but need some more suggestions.
(That hotel reservation is at The Pullman at Glenlo Abbey, eating on a restored train car, anybody ever been? Honestly looks a bit over the top to me in a ‘this is more about the experience of eating in a dining car from The Orient Express than making good food’ kind of way, but the travel agent wouldn’t shut up about it. Some good ammo on why we should potentially reschedule that wouldn’t hurt either.
)
Thanks!

What can I say? In laws have used them for years, and they do a great job in handling details I don’t have the bandwidth for.

I was only in Galway for one night, but we had a great dinner at Oscar's. And it was right around the corner from some big block party, so I'm assuming it's in a happening spot for nightlife.

Spent 2 nights in Galway a few years ago. We ate at a few pubs, nothing too formal. We ate a late lunch at King's Head Pub and I remember it being pretty good, and on a busy street with plenty of people watching. They brew their own red ale and it was good.
Our first night in town we arrived late and ate at a pub called An Pucan- it was not good. Cool atmosphere with a rugby watch party going on, but the food was subpar.

Ok...I go to Ireland way too much, and if you love seafood, I can help.
Outside of Galway just a bit is Moran's Oyster Cottage. They breed their own oysters and are really really good. Lots of celebrities have been there over the years. Great pints also. Their chowders and coconut prawns are outstanding.
Kirwans - down a side lane in Galaway, great fish but also friends have liked the steak there.
O Grady's on the Pier - great place to watch the sunset, but great food. Wife love the smoked salmon plate from there, and I love a good monkfish.
Oscar's Seafood Bistro - right outside the Latin Quarter, with a constantly changing menu. But the couple times I have been there, they are always doing something imaginitive with oysters. Great wine list if that is your thing, but enough beer to make me happy.
Hooked - Fish n Chips many ways. Great beer selection.
And if you are looking for something different, they actually have damn good pizza in Galway. Frankly the best in the country. Dough Boys or Wowzza (something liket that are very good).

Aniar was great, 24 courses total. Grilled duck heart, oyster ice cream, etc., pretty wild meal overall and their star is well deserved.

Winding Stair looks good, already would like to spend more time in Dublin. 2 nights there felt a bit rushed. Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud was great, best meal we had there.
