Will AI destroy Social Media? (Theory)

Curious to OTs opinion on this with Sora dropping this month and it being so advanced.
The theory is that AI videos and pictures are progressing at such a rate that we will struggle to discern what’s real anymore here shortly.
If we can’t do that, then everything on socials will be presumed fake/AI or some representation.
One response to that could be large amounts of people start tuning out because it no longer is serving the same purpose any longer of connecting with the world and seeing real people.
This spell trouble or potential collapse in social media companies and other platforms.
Personally, I think this is an optimistic outlook… not sure if that really happens but if we could unplug from social media and start engaging in real life more I do think society would be much better off for it.

Social media hasn't been real since the beginning. Fake news, dudes acting like women, photoshop, happy family pictures. All BS.
It's not news. Not reliable. Just cheesy entertainment.
Dumb people believe rumors on social media now and will continue to do so if it aligns with their simple thoughts/conspiracy theories.

Look into the "Dead Internet" theory. It's pretty fascinating and seems to be on track to being true.
AI could likely end up feeding their own learning models with false information created by other AI entities. That includes AI bots commanding most of social media traffic and pulling that into their learning models. Bot activity on Instagram is a large percentage of it's traffic today.

The fake AI videos already filling social media is getting harder and harder to distinguish from real ones.

People's brains are already warped. You have people now thinking Charlie Kirk was assassinated by his own wife with the help of Israel using either a drone or an exploding lapel microphone. Can't imagine how much more damage AI is going to do to skepticism.

I wasn’t referring to porn videos. I was talking about things like fake Trump videos, or fake animal attack type stuff

recent independent analyses suggesting figures between 12% and 64%. A major factor in this discrepancy is the difficulty in detecting sophisticated bots that can mimic human behavior.
You have no idea what's real and fake on that Cluster F$$K

“Social media” died when companies realized that people would engage more with curated rage bait than with their actual social circle. We’re just moving from real rage bait to AI generated rage bait.

Half the Facebook shite my family sends comes with the comment “no idea if this is real” so it may already be happening.

Already destroying YouTube etc... So yes. AI slop is mostly unwatchable and garbage to read. New AI models are using this material to learn. It's self fulfilling that it's all garbage moving forward

It already has.
I hate that FB keeps showing "suggested posts" in my feed from pages / people I don't follow. Most of those suggested posts are AI bullshite now.

My favorite trend was “influences” sitting on a stationary plane pretending they were flying private trying to coach you on how to be successful. Total lames!

Maybe I’m in the minority, but more times than not I can tell if a video/pic is AI.

We can too we just don't want to see the fake crap.
I recently recovered my Instagram account - it's garbage and I'm out. It's progressing and soon we won't be able to tell the difference, it's discouraging and maybe that's a good thing.

The AI world is now, what is termed to be, spiraling.
This happened before in 1999 - 2001. Then the tech crash came, the bubble burst.
There will be a crash in the very near future, it has got to happen. Once the crash occurs the system will sort itself out. The problem though wil be if only one platform gains total control of AI.
This is the biggest fear. Bill Gates has been trying very hard to claim it for himself , so keep this in mind.
There is no such thing as utopia ...
