What do y’all get?
I’ve gotten sand from Omaha Beach. Rocks from the Matterhorn, Croatia, Ireland, Acadia National Park, Kauai, Norway.

Used to get small magnets of the states/places and kept them on the washer / dryer
Then we got two lab puppies that liked the way they chewed so a good portion of the country was destroyed.

Waterford Crystal glass and a Luck Stone from Blarney Castle on my trip to Cork Ireland.

A pink marbled stone from the Llano River in Texas, a bit of iron ore from the top of Red Mountain in Birmingham, and a rock that I may or may not have scooped up from the Vatican Grottoes.

Memories and stories, nothing more. I had some turf from beating Auburn in the 90s that someone gave me, but that's long since disappeared. I'm not touching anything from any sort of war site like Normandy, Bastogne, Verdun, etc. I didn't earn it in any way. Their ground is for them. Same for famous mountains, civil war sites, etc.
This isn't 1985 where you have 24 shots on your 110 camera. You really need to do this?
I thought this thread was going to be about shot glasses or beer steins, but you're trying to play Sgt Horvath in SPR? I don't get it.

We either get some sort of a knickknack that we put on our display shelves in the hallway or a piece of art that we put on the wall with all of our other artwork from places we've been.

Waterford Crystal glass
Manufactured in Poland. If you wanted Irish crystal you needed to look elsewhere.

I do a similar thing. I collect asphalt bits from road tracks around the world (F1, Le Mans, Nordschleife, etc) as well as great driving roads (Tail of the Dragon, Stelvio Pass, Grossglockner etc).

I don’t collect anything but generally bring my son a hat or collectible baseball if I travel to city with a major league team. Typically bring my daughter back a collectible stuffed animal from the same city.

In Normandy, the souvenir shops have small glass decanters with the name “Omaha Beach “ on them and I think encourage folks to fill them with sand. That’s why I did it. I’m humbled every time I look at it.
