Kiffin obviously knew that and cashed in on it.

Kiffin is one of the best playcallers in football period. Blake Baker is good, but not to that level of mastery.

Because we have an ELITE defense.

Because Kiffin looks at film and finds weaknesses. Sloan apparently doesn't. Every other team that played ole miss ran the ball 34-40 times. We ran the ball 22 times.

The soft zone coverage did kill us.

apparently we were not in cover 2 or cover 3 which uses flat zones covered by DB's. we may have been cover 1 or cover zero. or combo coverage. man outside and zone inside.

some zone coverages only use hook zones, buzz zones and deep shell zones over the top. flats are not always covered. we may have been in a man coverage and just got beat to the ball as i stated above. who knows.

For all the improvements Baker has made, that last play was inexcusable.

The damn announcers drew it up before the snap. They’d been going to that guy when they had to have it; make someone else beat you.

Break up that pass and there was a legit chance to walk it off

This whole season we have almost exclusively run a base 4-3 defense. We don't rotate with the motion and just allow our linebackers to cover in space because we like having that base look. Kiffin knew that and ran a lot of motions to setup the defense being out flanked. It happened the whole game. Even on the 1st two drives that we made them go 3 & out we weren't rotating to take away numbers. Kiffin pointed it out and their offense got going.

The maddening part was Blake didn't make adjustments. Once it was obvious that we couldn't maintain our rush lanes by stunting or blitzing we needed to stop and just rush 4 and use Perk or Whit as a spy and play combination coverages behind them with 5-6 DBs. Allow the DBs to travel with the motion and reset the coverage. Instead we kept running stunts that they took advantage of especially with QB runs and when we wouldn't travel with the motion it setup open routes in the flats.

But even with that we were in the game because our talent on defense is elite. But Blake was out coached by Kiffin especially on third down. However, because we had the better players our defense was still able to get stops. Our Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach lost that game. Nuss didn't play well but the offense is broken and I am done with the Sloan experiment.
