This is the career best ERA since Jim Devlin, who pitched from 1875 to 1877 and finished with a 1.896.

Career ERA leaders

Do you think Skenes finishes his career sub 2.25? He would finish top 15 all time. Mariano Rivera at 2.209 is wild.

Absolutely pathetic that the Pirates team has him with a 10-10 record.

It's a testament to him that he even won 10. 99% of the league probably wouldn't have won 5.

Pirates should have legit starting pitchers if they are healthy. Need to invest in the BP and bats. Call up Jared Jones.

You think he's been in the minors? He has been out all season with an injury

He's obviously referring to the LSU hitter in the pirates system.

Pirates pitching staff led MLB in shutouts this year...but we are also dead last in MLB in runs scored.

I was catching up on his stats last night and was blown away. The really amazing thing is that his numbers last year were basically identical but played over less games.

He was legitimately one of, if not the best best pitchers in the world as a 22 year old rookie. Then you think, other than a few reps was he really that different pitching as a 21 year old his last year at LSU? Not really. The guy you saw pitching in Omaha was an MLB All Star caliber player already. It’s pretty special. Like getting to see Bo Jackson or Randy Moss in college.

Because he will probably win the CYA barring a major upset, I looked up all of the past winners to compare. The average winner for starting pitchers has something like a 21-6 record and over 200 IP and most pitched for good teams. He's going to be a major outlier.

The only true comparison I saw was deGrom had a season with absolutely crazy advanced stats but finished with a 10-8 record on the Rangers.

I hope this doesn't happen for at least a couple more years. Just bought my kid a Skenes jersey.

If the Pirates owner was ever gonna care about winning, now is the time. You give that staff three bats and they're in the playoffs next year.
