Is P.F. Chang’s still a decent meal?

Use to go to the P.F. Chang’s often in Metairie early 2000s with my family growing up. We always had a great meal, including service. Probably haven’t stepped foot in one in 15 years. Thinking about bringing my kids there soon when we visit family in Nola.

Has anyone been recently and have an opinion? What is a better option for Asian food in Nola area that is family friendly?

Personally, I think so. The wife and I bring our toddler there, because they have some good kids meals and we usually split an entree. Dining room is hardly ever full, so seems to do more take-out business than dine-in.

Are you just looking for national chain Chinese food?

I presume he's looking for experiences at PF Changs as the title suggests.

Yes but there’s probably much better (more unique) places to eat. It is good though for sure.

Are yall into the Hot Pot or Korean bbq thing? A couple of good places of both in the area. Crazy Hot Pot is cool and fun and the food, Oy, great.

Decent? I guess, meaning its edible but it certainly isn't good. It's like Olive Garden for Chinese, ok if you have to eat there but not someplace I'd choose for quality.

It's one of the better options in the ATL airport. Especially for breakfast. I had it yesterday as a matter of fack. I've never been to one that wasn't in an airport.

Quality has fallen way off while prices have increased, at least at the PF Chang's in East Memphis

It's interesting to watch the way chains have gone as "trendy" modern dining has really ramped up on the local level.

When PF Chang's opened in BR, they had 1hr+ waits on a nightly basis because it was so different from what we had. Same for Carraba's, Bonefish, etc.

I went earlier this year, and it was a shell of that. We sat in the bar area, and we were the only ones in that area on a Saturday night. Half the bar area was covered in rain-soaked towels and mop buckets because the windows had leaked when it rained. Thought it was strange they never picked it up since it was not raining at all anymore.

Something I've noticed. The bar area at many of these chains seems to be a bit .. off. My guess is they don't really get bar business like local joints do, and I can't figure out why. You practically have to beat people away from a barstool to get a spot at Mansur's down the street on a Monday night, meanwhile PF Chang's/Carraba's bar sits empty on a Saturday night.

I guess they just attract a different demographic, and it's people who aren't interested in a bartop experience.

As others have said, it's not bad food, but it's now far more expensive than it has any right to be.

We used to go too and it was ok. After lockdown, we went and like everything else, it wasn’t as good. I haven’t been back. But my daughter and her friend have been and said it’s fine. Guess it depends what you are looking for.

Great observations.

Seems like most chains went through a slump in the 10s (likely due to new trendy options as you say and/or maybe just stagnant in general) and many have recently revamped, upgraded etc and are now competitive.

The dead bar areas, yeah now that you mention it. Maybe people just don’t think of them as bar places or maybe it’s families or larger groups that won’t sit barside? I rarely sit at the bar of a restaurant for no real reason. Like apples and oranges.

I always thought PFC's was a step above other restaurant chains but I haven't been in probably 10 years. I'm sure the quality has degraded much like other chains
