Looks like it’s going to be a crime drama miniseries, from the same folks who did Mare of Easttown. Tom Pelphrey’s underrated IMO, so I’m definitely down.

Very in on this. The early talk I've heard has been very positive.

I’m a big fan of Tom Pelphrey in the few things I’ve seen him in. He was excellent as the brother in Ozarks.

I’ll watch but I wish it were set elsewhere than Philly
Gonna have to listen to that godawful Delco accent throughout the show

I love Mark Ruffalo until I heard him on a podcast and he sounds like a miserable human being

Well, that's because he is. And like with most liberals it is self imposed. He wants to be miserable.

Oh, he absolutely is.

They want EVERYONE to be as miserable as they are. To quote an old Oprah line... You get to be miserable and You get to be miserable and You get to be miserable.
So far, this is pretty good. I'm in. At least for the next episode

We get it, Ruffalo has shitty politics. But he can act his arse off and that’s all I really care about here.
Thoughts on the first episode:
- Has some potential for sure. Started a bit slow but really picked up in the later half.
- Obviously curious about how the brother died and what Ruffalo’s kid did that has him facing time.
- Kid’s gonna be a problem.
Interesting to see where this thing goes. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to be your regular bust the thieves type situation.

Well, the crime occured "within the family unit", and Ruffalo's wife recently died... so... those dots are too easy to connect, which means that ain't it.

So far, it's started slow. . .but so did Mare of Eastown. I remember looking at my husband after Mare's Ep 1 and said, "Well, that was a nothing burger." I now know how wrong that statement was. I watched Mare last week (it's been playing on HBO nonstop all week) and appreciate how brilliant it is. So, I'm in.
There was a scene at the end last night's episode with a photo of Ruffalo's family with wife and (it looked like) 3 kids.

Bill Simmons on the last Rewatchables podcast said that he got an advance viewing of the first three episodes and ranks it even with or better than True Detective S1 or any other show in HBO. Not saying he’s right…just pointing out the very high praise. Hope he’s right

That’s a bold statement to say it’s better than True Detective S1. I’ve heard that about 20 new shows since. But then again that’s what Bill Simmons does.
I will watch and have heard great things.

Bill Simmons can be pretty hyperbolic and I don't know that it meets True Detective S1 (and that's not an indictment against this show, just that's such a high bar to meet).
But, I know Mare of Easttown had some nice twists and unexpected moments without being absurd. If this is as good as Mare was, it'll be a quality miniseries and that's all I ask for.

Been looking forward to this one. Didn't realize it came out last night until late and I turned it on and fell asleep within 5 minutes
Trailers gave a Mare of Eastown and S1 of True Detective vibes. Which would make it the greatest show in television history if it pulled that off. Just need it to be half as good as either of those and it'll be great watch.

Ruffalo tends to overact at times
