To even ask this is embarrassing IMO, but here we are in 2025. One is a film and the other is a vibe.

The Batman, in my opinion, is so much darker than Batman Begins. And for that, it's better than Batman Begins.

But Batman Begins walked so that every Batman film that came after could run.

Someone here said it once years ago....

"Batman Begins is when Batman got his balls back."

TDK is still tops them all.

Batman Begins probably wins out for me.

But I was really surprised how much I enjoyed The Batman. If it wasn’t for The Penguin series, I likely wouldn’t have ever seen it. I liked it a lot, and I loved The Penguin.

The Batman was a monumental achievement in film. It actually managed to do the impossible - make Batman look uncool. A dreary, monotonous slog of a movie.

Begins for me. I've said it before, I really like the first two acts of the batman. It's got some really great batman stuff. But the 3rd act is clunky and far too long. I'm hoping Reeves tightens things up and gives us a really great sequel.

The whole Riddler is an incel on 4chan thing was so fricking dumb and a huge letdown. I thought he was going to be menacing and terrifying the whole movie, and it’s like his mystique was completely ruined by that.

I know it was prior to his tenure, but in reference to future projects, it’s the type of thing Gunn would probably be like, wow that’s such a good idea (see wanting to make Peacemaker 2 all about white supremacists initially). For all his good qualities, his Hollywood bubble is a little too pronounced at times

Begins is better but I really liked The Batman also. That score is insanely good, especially the Samuel Kim epic version because it mixes some of the original 89 score in

+1 the score and the cinematography are awesome. It's a very well-made film, but I'm with you on the riddler. I didn’t like that either. Most of the 3rd act has always felt like studio interference to me.

The Batman is a decent and competently-made film. But nearly every element of the Batman mythos/story that was presented in the movie has been done better in a previous Batman movie. The Penguin was probably the highlight and really the only standout part.

No Batman ran better than Adam West.

For me Batman Begins is not only the best Batman movie, it’s the best comic book movie

He was an all around lazily written and painfully predictable character. The Riddler should have been a psychological labyrinth... a complete mind-frick that left every one second guessing every clue/word and evil intention. Instead, he was reduced to a lazily written Dollar tree Zodiac cosplay character. The potential for a truly cerebral villain was right there but they reallg stripped away the enigma which and left us with a character who never once felt as dangerous or unpredictable as he should have been. Lazy writing at its finest.

This is where I've gotta to vehemently disagree....

That score was absolute trash. It sounded more like static background noise than anything resembling a powerful soundtrack. It lacked imagination, had zero emotional grip and vanished from memory the second each scene ended.

And the theme was easily the blandest an most uninspired Batman motif ever put to film. There was no identity, no edge, no lasting resonance... just a flat, generic drone masquerading as a score. It didn't hold a candle to Zimmer's TDK trilogy score.

Agreed 100%. When they found him in the diner, he’s just completely silent and doesn’t give any sort of performance that would put you on the edge of your seat in suspense of what was going to happen next. Ledger did a better job of the psychological torment in the interrogation scene than what we got there

Yeah we have totally different takes on that . I can feel the notes and visualize when he’s walking up to Penguin in the upside down car every time I hear it. I blast it at the gym for heavy sets a good bit
