Early fall? Are you seeing blackbird murmurations yet?

This afternoon, just east of Knoxville, two murmurations flew over. The larger was first and a second followed about five minutes later
I expect them in late October through December. Could this be a sign of a gentle fall that lasts four months?

The blackbirds were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird, from the Beatles White Album
Trivia: the only song credited to all four of them.
ETA: Got some bad info on that last part.

A murmuration is a breathtaking natural phenomenon of birds, particularly European starlings, forming complex, swirling patterns in the sky, often in groups of hundreds of thousands.

Central Louisiana
Not blackbirds yet but we have 8 hummingbird feeders up and just this week the hummers are starting to be like a swarm of bees. Seems the hummers are at least a couple weeks early.

Didn’t know murmuration was a thing but I just remember seeing those big groups of red wings roll over through the rice fields while duck hunting. Always cool to look at.
It’s about all you’ll see hunting ducks in the rice fields these days.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. A Paul masterpiece

more likely starlings.

In winter here it's starlings because they land and feed on the seeds left on hay fields and even in our yard.
The two flocks the other day, the first one all appeared to have dark feathers, but the second looked gray. I don't think it was the sun angle, and people have talked about other birds doing the group thing. That gray was almost mockingbird gray, but mockingbirds don't get along with other mockingbirds even on good days.
